The Chiefs worked out free agent K Mike Vanderjagt on Monday.

When you're desperate, there's always Vanderjagt. The Broncos are reportedly also considering the 38-year-old kicker. Kansas City currently has two kickers on its roster: Nick Novak and Billy Cundiff.

What is the point in bringing in old kickers? Why don't the Chiefs just wait until after the draft and bring in 4 or 5 OFA kickers? Even if one of these old guys could win 4 games for us this year it would still be a bad move overall because they won't be here when the team is competitive.

Is that a scene from Blade? I never did see that movie.

I honestly think he'd be worth it if we weren't completely enmeshed in a youth movement.

Herm said a few weeks ago that he doesn't care how old the kicker is. Obviously a young one who will be around for years is the best case scenario, but he just wants someone who can make the kicks.

Eh, Herm drafted a kicker last year.

He could draft one again this year. Look for it in the 6th round if Mehlhaff is still on the board.

Can you go after the punting record and FG record in the same season?

Some kickers seem to get better with age....I would hate to waste another draft pick on a kicker. I say sign a vetran for kicking, and leave the draft picks alone to use for actual athlete positions on the roster....

with Bobby Sippio entering his 2nd year the only thing a kicker will need to do is kick a dozen extra points per game!

Guys, I can totally see where Herm is going with this: you see, if we have enough kickers there will always be a fresh kicker for all the field goals that we need to score to win games...no one scores touchdowns anymore, that is sooo 2003. They won't even see it coming.

Get with the program everyone

I don't see the big deal on this;

At worst - it saves us from spending any picks on a kicker, we can still bring in several UFA for training camp and the best kicker wins the job. Plus we insure the Donks don't get him.

At best - he returns to be as good as he used to be and he's worth the money for a year or four.

The rumor is that the baton guy moved away from StL. He showed up at my grad school one time for some gay rally and complained to the smokers in the courtyard while dressed a ghey outfit. Glass houses, bro.

If one of these old guys could win 4 games for us this year, it would match our record from last year, so anything any of the other players did to win games for us would just be a bonus.

Lower your expectations.

Or shut off the TV.

There are only so many ways to survive this season.
