This guy is very good. Not a Mariah Carey fan even though she used to have one of the best voices back in the day. I think this is a good cover of what possibly is the girliest pop song of the past 20 years other than Madonna's Like a Prayer to where it's now a Rock Ballad.

I really liked his Lionel Richie "Hello" song also. And he hasn't brung up his brother dying of cancer is in the audience card. Not once. Thats pretty classy.

It's a little different this time around. I didn't watch Daughtry's season at all. But people who don't watch AI are watching it this season because of David Cook. Daughtry can't play instruments worth a shit. Cook is a real artist. People can see that. He's gonna be a real hit because he will be able to do things in recording studios not many "recording artists" are able to do.

Sorry but that sounded bland to me. Like he was singing most of it through his nose.

Nothing there wow'd me.

I think that it sucks that he's going to get credit for this:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h_aiawC-9aM&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/h_aiawC-9aM&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

When this is the guy who first did it:

TJ, they credited him for it by introducing it as "Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean." Why is that a bad thing?

The kid is gifted, I won't deny it.

I'm a Cornell fan, and hate to see him ripped off for an American Idol competition. The whole thing just goes against the spirit of Cornell's music to me.

I would have just rather seen him pick a different Cornell tune than one from his most recent solo album.

I like Cornells version, no doubt. Cook knocked it out of the park though. He made it better IMO. Cornell gets the credit for creating the arrangement though. If nothing else, Cook got Cornell more attention.

Post it then.

Huge David Cook fan here but the other song he is referring to is the Incubus version of Linonel Richie's Hello. I think it is still on YoutTube but I have not time to look as I have to get to work.

"Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T., cause if it leaks to the V.C., he could end up an M.I.A., and then we'd all be put on K.P."

I can't imagine that Chris Cornell is complaining.

Katherine McPhee must have made KT Tunstall a ton of money when she popularized "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree." I remember hearing Tunstall say she'd like to buy McPhee a slice of pizza to thank her--and I was like "a slice of pizza" for bringing her into the mainstream?! Yikes.

I'd guess that Cornell is getting more downloads than ever...
