If anybody cares and/or has MLB Extra Innings.

Tied 1-1. Both teams scored their lone runs in the 14th to keep it going.

The Padres only have one extra base hit as well....McAnulty in the 11th IIRC hit a double and tried to strech it to a triple with no outs and got mowed down

If it were late in the season or the playoffs then they would probably used up a starter. I imagine they didn't want to risk burning out someone on short rest the early in the year.

Glendon Rusch gets caught looking to end it. Colorado wins 2-1 in 22 innings.

I think some records had to be set in that game. There were close to 40 strikeouts and 700 pitches thrown in that game.

That's the reason I asked. I don't follow NL so I'm not tuned into the strategy about it, but down a run with a runner on base, how do you let a pitcher bat?

No one to hit for him and you probably wouldn't risk damaging a starter even if there was someone.

Yeah I wish I would have watched it straight through since it ended up being such an epic game. I was around the 2nd inning when I first started watching around 8:00.

And it does seem like the Rockies and Pads end up in long games. Especially in the Pads pitchers park.
