Pull the f*cking trigger...he's gone anyways, may as well get a good draft.

Reverse the 08 3rd and the 09 2nd and it'd be EVEN better.

The Vikings would be willing to give the Chiefs their first-round pick in this year's NFL Draft, along with its 2009 second-round pick and 2008 third-round picks.

Vikings reportedly up offer (http://blogs.twincities.com/Vikings/2008/04/vikings_reportedly_up_offer.html)

Scout.com is reporting that the Vikings have increased its offer to the Kansas City Chiefs. To acquire DE Jared Allen, the Vikings are willing to give the Chiefs their No. 1 pick (17th overall), along with its 2009 second-round pick and a 2008 third round pick (unclear which one).
That still seems awfully expensive.

Why would the Vikes give up 2 1sts and a 3rd when they can just sign him and get 2 1sts when we don't match?

Either way it's a win/win scenario for KC, and the Vikings will fold and pay up IMO when they are on the clock.

Two Firsts is the only way to deal this. In a sense we are asking for 2 3rd rounders along with another 1st. Carl is gonna get ****ed in the ass in this one.

You don't get it.

The 2 1st round picks only apply if the Vikings sign him to an offer sheet FIRST.

Which they are NOT going to do.

We're not "settling" for anything. We're taking what the market will bring.

I'd love someone to answer this question for me:

What does it say about the rest of the league's thoughts on Allen's value if the only legitimate offer we've received from the other 31 teams is a 1st/3rd in 2007 and a 2nd in 2009?

Apparently, there's not another team in the league that thinks he's worth the 1st/3rd that the Vikings originally offered.

I love that Carl's getting crucified over possibly getting THREE picks in the first 73 of the draft for a guy that DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY HERE.

If we start doing that then we've become the Royals of prior years of the NFL.
Damon - gone, Dye - gone, Beltran - gone, Cone - gone, Ibanez - gone, etc. etc. etc. you get the point. Farm system for other teams when we do actually not screw up a pick.

If Chad Johnson is worth 2 1st round picks, the market clearly dictates he's worth at least that. A sound football decision would be to keep him for the year and see what takers offer next year. It's not like JA is going to have a chit year when he knows he's only hurting his value by dogging it

First, the Redskins ALLEGEDLY offered a 1st and a conditional 3rd to the Bengals.

The Bengals have denied this report.

And even if it WERE true, you have no idea what the conditions are for that pick to become anything but a 3rd.

I'm sorry, but Chad Johnson has NO BEARING on what Jared Allen is worth.

NONE.

The market has shown what Allen is worth, and whether you like it or not, it's a 1st/3rd in 2007 and a 2nd in 2009, unless the Vikings up the offer again.

No one else has even made an offer.

Opening a bar in KC has absoutely NOTHING to do with this by the way.

Jared looked to have cleaned himself up. It's not like Jared Allen doesn't want to play football. Players don't like getting suspended. They don't like practice but they ALL love game day.
