No, I'm not providing any other options by design. This thread is not about who we should pick at #5. I'm just wanting to compare these two guys to see if you think either of them, neither of them or which one of them are worthy of the 5th round pick.

They will definitely both go before the 5th round. But just like yesterday, its C. Long without even having to think about it.

Chris Long best player in the draft but I highly doubt he will be there when we pick.

Better take Chris Long imo

I'd still go with Matt Ryan if he's available. Brodie Croyle $UCKS. He's a 3rd string NFL QB at best.

I would wonder how ppl would feel if we got long in the 5th and traded up for Ryan if he fell to 8-12.

Long will be gone by #5. Gholston won't hold up against the run in a 4-3, he's more suited to a 3-4. That said, I'm sure the Chiefs will find a way to ____ this up and take him at #5 anyway.

I want Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, Vernon Gholston in that order. Just need STL, ATL, or OAK to pick 1 player outside those 3, and we'll get one of them.

I hope for one of Clady, Albert, Otah, Williams @17.

You wouldn't want Dwight Freeney on your team, then... right? He wouldn't hold up to the run in a 4-3... right?

my only problem with gholston is he is a linebacker/d-lineman which makes him a tweener and the chiefs will screw up a tweener 90% of the time.

Was Derrick Thomas NOT a LB/DE tweener for the Chiefs? Did they screw that up?

Long will probably be gone, and I think he's the better pick.

But, hey, I wanted Alan Branch instead of Dwayne Bowe last year, so what the f*ck do I know.

Its no secret that the Colts are 10times better coached and ran for that matter then our team.

And even with our success with Derrick Thomas dont tell me that some where in the back of your mind on draft day you wont be thinking that the chiefs will prolly break him.

Any way you look at it, barring a move by the Jets, one of Dorsey, Long or Gholston should be available at #5.

Gholston Please!

I'm not a big fan of Ellis's past injuries.

* tearing cartilage in his right knee, which required arthroscopic surgery
* left ankle fracture that required surgery

Where is the "this poll is silly Long wont make it to the 5th and Gholston might not either" option?

The fact is, Long is better than Gholston though if you're just trying to compare the two. Gholston has a chance of actually being there at 5.

Marty, for all his faults, did know defense, and how to utilize the talent he had to work with, and he also had Bill Cowher as DC at that time.

I still believe the worst thing that ever happened to DT on the field was Gunt.

I have very little faith in Gunt's talent evaluation, and no faith in his ability to utilize talent when he actually has it.

JA should not have been able to hold up in the 4-3 either but he did..

He is just a bit smaller then JA, the only thing I do not like about Gholston is his inability to cause fumbles..

I get what you're saying, because by all accounts, Long is considered by most as the BPA.

But I strongly believe that you build a defense from the inside out, and front to back.

I also believe that Ellis brings intensity and leadership qualities that Long doesn't quite match, so that, while Long might be a better player from a strictly athletic perspective, Ellis, to me, is a better player from a positional value and intangible perspective.

Houston did quite alright going with Mario Williams first and then Amobi Okoye the next year.

The gap, talent wise, between Mario Williams and Haloti Ngata was far more substantial that the gap between Long and Ellis.

They really are close, in my mind. I like Long's motor more, I like Gholston's athleticism more.

In the end, that motor wins out. I'd be happy with either, but I'd never have to worry about seeing Long quit in the fourth quarter, and he is a damn good athlete.

Do you just think that Gholston lacks a motor because he's not the Great White Dope?

What part of this is so goddamned impossible to comprehend:

A terrific athlete...Good speed and quickness...Has a cut muscular physique...Very strong with good power...Has an outstanding motor...Does a solid job against the run...Has excellent range and is a terror in pursuit...Is able to get pressure off the edge or as a bull rusher...Good tackler...A hard worker with top intangibles...Very productive...Versatile and can play more than one position...Still has some upside

Scouts/ESPN is having a new live mock right now.

Chris Long was gone to the Rams at #2 so they had us trade out of the #5 spot with New Orleans in return for the Saints 1st round pick next year. The Saints drafted Ellis and we took Albert at #10.

Had 8 sacks in three games against the best three teams OSU played.

Why don't you look at Allen's splits from last year? He had no sacks against the likes of Tennesse, Denver, Indy (with a 2nd string tackle), Oakland, and San Diego.

I love this retard logic

The dude has a history of disappearing in games. These stats kind of back that up. Retarded or not.
