The thing about SS for illegal immigrants isn't even true. It's been going around for a few years, and is almost completely wrong. The issue wasn't about giving SS benefits to illegals, but whether illegal immigrants should be given credit for previous payments into SS they made while illegal immigrants if they later gained legal status. And the vote wasn't even in favor of that, but to table an amendment proposed by someone else bringing up the issue.

So all those Senators above did was vote to not consider an amendment banning illegal immigrants from being credited for SS taxes paid while illegal immigrants if they should become legal in the future. I didn't check out the rest, but if it was sourced by the same poster, I'd question it too.

Wow, this is easy. Here's the real quote: "Each year, state governments spend an estimated $11 billion to $22 billion to provide welfare to immigrants."

Note: immigrants, not illegal immigrants. Also, the source is an institute that lobbies for immigrant reform.

One, the number he quote is wrong. It's $1.9 million. Two, the study talks about children of illegal immigrants born in the US who are therefore citizens. Disagree with our constitution or laws, but the stat is bogus.

All of these sources are either down or transcripts of Lou Dobbs, a noted and biased anti-immigration proponent, talking. For my own sanity, I didn't read them.

I think he just made up the 19,500 number. The report says "hundreds" and then gives finding a few Chinese and Iraqis, one Afghanistan swimming in, and finding articles of clothing as proof.

I think we all know that drug smuggling is a problem. That's a bit of a different issue though.

Overall, mostly bullshit.

Also note, I didn't check any of the underlying numbers reported here, just whether he reported them accurately and where they were sourced from. The reports themselves could still be bullshit.
