I heard this morning that Bob Gretz was fired, and Kendall Gammon was named the replacement as the sideline reporter for Chiefs. Great news for those of us that cannot stand Gretz, and better news that Kendall will be his replacement!

I couldn't find anything else about this, so sorry if it's a repost.

I hope that's true. But CeePee's asshole sure will get cold without Gretz's nose up in there keeping everything cozy.

Gretz filed an article on the chiefs website this morning, so if he is fired, he's apparently not completely gone.

He wrote a few articles for Warpaint...good guy. I wish he had continued because his insiders view was terrific.

Just talked with Nick. Gretz is history.

I'm a little sad actually. This is like killing off a major supervillain in the middle of the movie.

Gretz is completely fired or only fired from the gameday broadcast?

I wonder why? Did he disagree with Carl for once??

Gretz has been getting better in the past year or so - being unafraid to criticize the organization.

I dunno. The timing is amusing because we have a big pro-Carl article going up tonight.

KCFX hired someone new to run the station. Since Gretz was an employee of KCFX and not the Chiefs...seems logical he's toast.

Phobia

I believe Gretz is also an employee of the Chiefs. If not, he's a freelancer and his departure from KCFX has little to do with the Chiefs.

This is really cool. Getting another former player on the gameday broadcast is great.

Me thinks the thread starter could have come up with a better title.

A Bob Gretz Got Fired thread should have more than 28 freaking posts.

Keitzman was going on about how this move shows that Peterson has been "de-clawed". He said Peterson, Gretz and Bob Moore were always joined at the hip, and this just goes to show that he doesn't have the power he used to have. I mean... if he can't protect his radio buddy's job...

He went on to say that he thinks (hopes) that while Carl will have input into the draft decisions this year, ultimately the final say goes to Herm and Bill Kuharich. His feeling was that this was the first real sign of Clark Hunt starting to take control.

The other thing about the whole "losing power" deal is that Rufus Dawes hasn't written a real article in months. His comments are confined to the KcChiefs.com points of order where all the columnists offer opinions.

Gretz definitely became quite the homer once things soured on the Chiefs prospects of doing anything to compete for a Super Bowl, but I'll give credit where credit is due, the guy headed up probably one of the best if not the best pregame shows in the business. I remember growing up and listening to him for 3+ hours before kickoff and he was the pointman in directing all the Fox's pregame show.

Still not going to hate on the guy, we know he's a homer, but you can't really bite the and that feeds you- unless you're Len Dawson.
