Wow.

Jeez...Dorsey is good but THAT would have been a heck of a deal. We are going to need alot of picks again next year too. CP probably cringed at the thought of trying to get all these first rounders signed if we did do that deal.

NO could still take the OT we covet to entice KC into making the deal?

We need Dorsey, with Denver's running game, Tomlinson, and now McFadden.

KevB
04-26-2008, 02:39 PM
I don't care, I'm thrilled to have the best player in this draft. If they'd have accepted the deal in the thread starter, I wouldn't have blamed them. But getting Dorsey allows us to turn the page and get back to the dominant defense that we all crave. It starts in the trenches, and we just got an ass kicker.

FD
04-26-2008, 02:39 PM
We have so many picks already, it would be nice, but why pass on a truly elite level talent like Dorsey?

Dorsey's gonna kick ass for us ... but wow that would've been a great deal. An extra second and a first next year to drop down 5 slots? I'm surprised Carl passed on it.

IMO, the Chiefs made the right call here.
At some point, you have to turn picks into players. This guy is a game changer. I'm not at all concerned about his injuries, as he never missed a game. I just don't think you bypass game changers for more picks.
I'd have been happy with Ryan, but with him gone, this is the best possible pick.

I'm ecstatic.

I'm torn. Part of me really thinks the trade's the right thing. But the other part of me thinks Dorsey's the best player in the draft and has the potential to be the best DT in the NFL, and the kind of player that can help make this defense elite immediately.

Apparently the trade was a very, very close thing. I'd hate to be the guys forced to make that decision.

We should move up to the Pats slot now. Give up one of the 3rd's from the Vikes and get the best OL on the board.

That's actually a very good point. If we were the Pats it would make sense to do this ...but we're not. We need elite, high-character players to build a team around.

I wouldn't gamble. Move up and take Clady. Quality OT's are essential to the rebuild. Give em a 3rd from the Vikes. I'd rather have Clady than Otah and a 3rd rounder.

The Patriot won 18 games last year.

The Chiefs haven't won 18 games in TWO years.

The Patriots can take risks in the draft.

The Chiefs can't.

That was only 2 or 3 spots. It was 7 for us.

And at some point you have to stop stockpiling picks and actually draft someone. I think it's the best call to get Dorsey.

You can have 4 picks in the first for two years and not get anywhere solely because you keep waiting to pick someone elite.

Why trade Allen then for less? We already had an elite guy that got us less than what the Saints we're offering for an unknown. The value was immense and we ****ed it up.

I'm never doubting that we shouldn't have traded Allen. I called to trade LJ before we signed him. And sign Allen. But I'm too stoopid to be in Carl's position. :p

Also, that wasn't really the Patriots pick anyway so it's not like they lost much. AND they're WAY better off than we are.

I'm not even saying we shouldn't have traded Allen. After that insane contract Minny gave him we probably made the right choice, however it doesn't make sense to turn down a much better offer for a lot less risk. Status quo for Chiefs management. If there's a way to **** it up they will find it.

Great observation, Hoover, thanks for actually paying attention...

Likely offer was a swap of 1's and a 2 coming back to KC.

Based on the NE deal, there could NOT have been an additional 1 in the deal.

KC did the right thing and took a franchise player.

Kuharick (sp?) was just on 810 and said this was false. He and Carl laughed it off and said they would have taken that deal. They got an offer from NO, but it wasn't that good. He said Ron Jaworski knows what it was so maybe he will say.

Q: NFL Network reported that New Orleans offered you a first, next year’s first and a second round pick. Is that true?

PETERSON: “We didn’t get that offer. We got a fairly decent offer, but again, for the value of this guy, we felt that we weren’t going to take the offer.”

Says the media.

IF the Chiefs had passed on a trade of this magnitude, the discussion about whether or not the Chiefs made the right or wrong decision would still be ongoing on the NFL Network and ESPN.

It. Didn't. Happen.

Period.

You know, it's helpful every once in a blue moon if you dumbf*cks would actually put aside the hate and use your f*cking brains.

But I guess that's too much to ask of most Chief fans.
