ESPN still has us listed as having the 17th pick. Have they just not updated the graphic?

Uncle_Ted
04-26-2008, 02:47 PM
good move Carl! Giving up a 3rd and a 5th might have been a bit much to move up 2 spots though.

But we get Detroit's 3rd back (66th to 76th)

Stewie
04-26-2008, 02:50 PM
We swapped 1st and 3rds plus gave up a fifth. Good deal to get the guy we needed.

3rd (66th) and 5th (136)

That is ****ing terrible for 2 SPOTS!!!

doomy3
04-26-2008, 02:51 PM
Yep, I like the trade. We basically just gave them a fifth to get him. Not bad at all.

04-26-2008, 02:51 PM
I love it. Still got the 17th in the 1st.

No we don't.

The price takes some of the shine off it, and I would have been happy if DRC had fallen to us at 17 and we'd taken him instead, but oh well. Albert's fantastic.

DUMB.

Chiefs are going to SUCK NEXT YEAR.No shit, Sherlock. That was going to happen no matter who we picked.

Buehler445
04-26-2008, 02:51 PM
But we get Detroit's 3rd back (66th to 76th)

I haven't heard that. That would make it better.

jAZ didn't list it right.

We Gave:

1st (17th)
3rd (66th)
5th

AND GOT

1st (15th Albert)
3rd (76th)

Not too bad

NIUhuskies
04-26-2008, 02:52 PM
so we basically dropped 10 spots in the 3rd round, but we still have 3 picks in the 3rd, and gave up a 5th...not bad

Dare I say the words Genius and Carl be used in the same sentence. Naw, I'll just assume that he's got no say in picking...

Oh then ok ... they didnt show the 3rd we're getting back in the graphic I saw on NFLN

No, it's not. We got their 3rd and gave them a 5th. Beautiful move, IMO.

rtmike
04-26-2008, 02:53 PM
CP would have never been able to sign 13 picks so just as well give up a few to make moves. IMO.

doomy3
04-26-2008, 02:54 PM
Cromartie just got taken at 16. We wouldn't have gotten either guy there.

Glad we traded the 5th

I get the feeling Carl is having nothing to do with this draft. He'll be the first to take credit though. This isn't your typical CP draft.

Mr. Kotter

DUMB.

Chiefs are going to SUCK NEXT YEAR.

Football is won in the trenches. Dorsey and Albert will be anchors in the trenches for years to come.

It may take a year or two, but these two picks were definitely steps in the right direction.

Anyong Bluth
04-26-2008, 03:02 PM
Philly was probably going to move up to grab Albert- fabulous! So far my dream draft is working out, now I want Brohm, but Miami will probably take him if there at the start of the 1st

And it may not.

Look at Cleveland.

The Chiefs are no where near finished in addressing their offensive line.

What did Mel Kiper say about our pick (Albert)

Graded B. Typical Kiper, given that he was the #8 player on his board.

He liked it, he thought Albert would go in the top 10. Hell, he had us picking him at #5 for weeks, and we got him at 15.

The NFL trade charts say that is close to the right value.
15th pick 1050 pts
17th pick 950 pts
_______________
100 pts difference

5th round pick is 38 to 43 pts

Difference betweem 3rd round 66 slot and 76 slot is 50 pts

It is possible he thought he was going to be drafted earlier though. Kansas City with the 5th pick, New England with the 7th pick (later traded to 10), then Denver with the 12th pick were all considering him. He may have just been under stress. Brandon Albert along with Glenn Dorsey visited here in Kansas City (Part of our 30 visitors). He had to be aware that KC wanted him on the team.

The good thing he said Dorsey was his top pick of the whole draft.

We just exchanged our 3rd round picks with them, we didn't just give them a 3rd.

Swapping 1sts [up], 3rds [down], and giving up the 5th.
