Albert's presence on this line will elevate/improve the play of those around him...eventually anyway. In addition, we are not done with Olineman. If we don't draft one at 35, we'll nab a decent OG or C (or both) in the third round. We will struggle in all likelihood next year; but we already knew that. This is about the future....beyond the first half of next year.

Remember, Gailey is going to give Herm a run-first O. I would not be surpised if D-Mac remains at LT and Albert takes one of the OG positions beside Waters. Its not all about pass protection; if a guy like Albert can plow in the rushing game, that's what Herm was looking for. I personally think its a bridge too far to convert a college guard to OLT.

agree 100%.

I love the picks. Dorsey is maybe the best player in the draft and gives Herm what he has wanted at DT since he arrived. It also frees Turk to be a full time DE, thus this pick filled two positions.

Albert fills what I feel is the teams weakest postition, RG. This gives the Chiefs the best DT and Guard available in a single draft. Those who believe in drafting BPA should be happy. This also helps the Chiefs get strong in the middle fast, which is exactly what Herm, Gailey, and Gun want. Nice job Chiefs!

Still need OT, WR, or CB from the second round.

Exactly why I think Albert was a great pickup at #15. Big, tough, aggressive, skilled guy in the middle preventing those deep penetrations from the defense catching Johnson behind the line.

If Albert plays guard, and Waters stays at guard, McIntosh is servicable at one of the tackle positions... or Albert could play LT, McIntosh to right, Waters to center... still have holes but the line is improving

I think that's a bad idea. In the NFL, OLT is a really key position for a right handed QB. I guess they know what they are doing. Doesn't make sense to me. Its all speculation anyway until they line 'em up and run the offense. You never know, some undrafted FA could be starting at OLT by opening day.

When you are talking about protecting your young developmental QB, why put a rookie out there who has not played much of the position? Oh well, Brian waters came to us as a TE, Kris Wilson came as a TE and played FB, and Grigsby was a LB playing FB.

They are saying this on NFL.com about Albert.

Pick Analysis: Albert has the versatility to play guard or tackle in the NFL. He finishes blocks down the field and in space. He started 37 games (35 games at left guard, two at left tackle) for Virginia over three years. Has great overall athletic ability for a big man and could develop into the best offensive lineman in the draft.

I'm still predicting someone emerges in camp as starting OLT and it won't be Albert. You never know how a lower round pick might turn out. Then again, if Herm has Albert penciled in as OLT, he might pass on OLT draft prospects and draft other positions...
