C'mon, the man deserves his own thread, doesn't he?

Brad Cottam
Selected by: Kansas City Chiefs
Round: 3
Pick (Overall): 13(76)TE | (6'7", 270, 4.629) | TENNESSEE

Overall: Cottam redshirted in 2003. He appeared in 24 games over the next two seasons (2004-'05) but recorded just two receptions for 34 yards in that span. He played in all 13 games (six starts) in 2006, turning in 14 receptions for 182 yards (13.0 average). A wrist injury that required surgery cost Cottam the first nine games of his senior season, but he finished 2007 with five receptions for 125 yards (25.0 average) and a touchdown in five games. Cottam is the most intriguing tight end prospect in the 2008 class. He had as many catches (five) in 2007 as he did operations during his collegiate career. However, Cottam proved to be the most consistent tight end during the week of Senior Bowl practice and his combination of size, agility and reliable hands could land Cottam a spot as early as the third round.

Big guy, but has serious injury issues all the time and catches the ball against his body, not with his hands. He might make the team to cover Dunn's spot, but I think we could have gotten this guy in later rounds or just invited him to camp after the rest of the league passed on him. I hope I am wrong. We NEED OL...

Cottam an undrafted free agent? Crazy talk. He would have gone 3rd round even if we hadn't drafted him. He was great value where we picked him, it wasn't a reach.

He started in 10 games in a 5 year college career. I doubt he would have been drafted at all, or at least no higher than rd 6. We need OL BAD.

Blocking TE - Dunn's replacement.

The tight end missed some time this year with an injury but heís a blocking tight end.
Thatís why we drafted him. We have our receiving tight end and this guy is a very good blocker.

Q: Can you talk about the importance of a blocking tight end in Chanís offense?

EDWARDS: "Chan has a lot of personnel groups and the tight end is a big factor in his offense.
Itís important that we got a tight end. We liked this guy. Didnít catch the ball a lot, but if you look
at the guy he has a lot of speed. Heís a 4.65 guy and thatís legit. He can run, athletic, and a tough
guy. Finishes blocks and played in a good conference. Played in a lot of big games.""

While the Planet mock draft isn't a Bible by any means, he was drafted in the third round there.

We drafted this guy on his upside. If Tony G. can take him under his wing, we may have something really special in him.

This guy will end up being a solid football player. He reminds me of Dan Campbell and will fill the role of Jason Dunn. But in the 3rd round? Early Doucet was there when we picked Charles and there when we picked this guy. That wasn't smart.
