I got some good news today. My cousin, Elbert Mack (Troy), just got signed by Tampa Bay and will be flying down there this week.

I was hoping the Chiefs would have picked him up since we had a need at corner.

He led the NCAA in picks (tied with a few other people).
Looks like playing across from the 11th overall pick, Leodis McKelvin, gave teams a chance to scout my cousin as well.

I guess I just found a reason to pay attention to Tampa Bay. :-)

Nice. Tell him not to be like Pacman... after all Mons, Space Odyssey and others are right near Raymond James. ;)

Raymond James is as nice a stadium to attend as I've ever seen. The layout, ammenities, patio, and field are first class.
And Tampa rocks.
Ybor City did us right.

Congrats to your Cousin! Wish him luck. (he didn't sign for someone else in the AFC West so I have no issue with wishing him luck, lol)

Been a few years now, we went to see Iowa thrash the Zook Florida Gators in 2004.

Started off partying in Ft. Meyers for a couple days then drove up Alligator Alley to hit Tampa for a few days before game day.
Nothing but good to say about the town, people, and of course the very fine selection of ballet venues.
I still think Miami takes the cake as far as Florida ballet venues but Tampa is up there.

Of course nothing touches Miami. I tend to stay away from Ybor - don't want to get shot. It's gone downhill. Generally we go out in Hyde Park (South Tampa) or Channelside (downtown Tampa).

By the way, I couldn't find a good link, but this lists a lot of the undrafted free agents for each team.

It was getting that way when I moved away from Tampa in 2002. You've got to be wary of any place where they need to put up cameras with face recognition capabilities.

Dave

Definitely. Head was fine in a couple days, and knee in about a week and a half. After I recovered, I sold myself a disability income policy in case another freak injury happened which made me miss work.

Matter of fact, when are we going to start back playing flag football? I was just starting to get back in shape.

My cousin made the final 53!

He really made the most of his playing time this preseason, especially against New England.

Could be. I really need to start going to family reunions. You can ask Kirby if he has any relatives in Wichita, which is where Nuk (Elbert) is from.

I am definitely biased, but I think he would provide inexpensive, quality depth at CB for the Chiefs.

Thanks, I was a little torn this past preseason when the Bucs beat us at Arrowhead.

If I remember right, he made the opening tackle of the game, and ended up making several big plays.

I wanted him to do well enough that he could make their roster, but it pissed me off that we lost.

Can your cousin play QB??

I love my family and all, but if the Chiefs are going to get a QB shorter than 6 feet tall to start for us this season, his last name better be Brees.

The thought of that just made me throw up.....

But even if that did happen, everyone knows that Peyton "Triage" Manning will be put on IR before the first regular season game, so I'm not too worried about Denver.

Saints add CB Elbert Mack, waive DT Mitch King

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The New Orleans Saints and veteran cornerback Elbert Mack have agreed to a one-year contract.

General manager Mickey Loomis, who announced the acquisition of Mack on Tuesday when the Saints opened minicamp, says the club also has waived defensive tackle Mitch King.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Mack, who was a free agent, has spent his first four NFL seasons with Tampa Bay. He has five career interceptions and 77 tackles in 58 games and also has been a special teams regular.

Mack, who turned pro as an undrafted rookie out of Troy, appeared in all 16 games with one start for the Buccaneers last season, getting much of his work in five- and six-defensive back formations.

He intercepted two passes in 2011, returning one for a touchdown.

According to here: http://www.nfl.com/player/elbertmack/2507359/gamelogs

His only pass defensed today resulted in a 73-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

Every time my cousin gets put in a game he makes some kind of a big play

Maybe the Saints coach should put him in the game more often.
