Who do you like? I'm going with Pyro at 5-1 or Colonel John at 4-1 ... Big Brown is favored at 3-2 but he's starting way outside .....

I won't watch unless Smarty Jones is involved.

Some fine horseflesh. For those of us who enjoy the sport of kings, the horses are going to the post now and the local yokels just finished singing 'My Old Kentucky Home'. Pretty near to race time.

I was rooting for 8 bells to win. I'm thinking I'm bad luck today.

NBC's doing a good job downplaying the fact they just had to kill a horse.

Well, for people like me who only watch horse racing for the crashes, that was a pretty satisfying ending.

Well, for people like me who only watch horse racing for the crashes, that was a pretty satisfying ending. That might make NASCAR more interesting; losing drivers are summarily executed.

Probably too far. How about a giant fire-breathing robot dinosaur that eats all the cars except the one in victory lane?

Well, unless you're that horse that broke both front ankles and was immediately executed...

NBC couldn't have handled that worse.

It's somewhat better than they've done in the past. There's a fine line between giving those watching the information about the injury, and making a spectacle out of the animal's suffering. For example, in the 1990 Breeder's Cup, Go For Wand broke down vying for the lead about half-way down the stretch, then struggled to get back up and finish the race on three legs. They showed it over, and over, and over. It was awful.

In any event, Eight Belles was my pick. I've been a fan of hers for a while. I hate this part of the sport.

The short hispanic is comparing himself to Tom Cruise.Speaking of Tom Cruise, I saw before Iron Man that, before he became a star, he was studying in a Franciscan seminary, and was aspiring to become a priest.

I really hate the Chargers. Could you maybe place a bet on them to win the superbowl this year?

My comment was more to their interview with Dr. Bramlage saying the animal was put down, and NBC's very next shot was Big Brown's connections celebrating.
