Why is this horse race any more important than any other that takes place throughout the year???

Yup, besides by sexual prowess, it's the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.

I'd say prestige and competition.

It is 1/3 of the Triple Crown. The Preakness and the Belmont Stakes are the other two.

Sad to see a horse die, but at least Eight Belles died on the battlefield.

It was amazing how Big Brown just pulled away at the end like that, especially coming from the 20th spot.

I think he has a great chance to win the Crown.

The Derby is always a great time. A bunch of my friends went this year and said they had a blast.

Luckily the sun came out early, otherwise it would have been pretty messy.

My wife decided yesterday next year she's going to throw a Derby party with pitchers of Juleps and big funky hats.

Seemed like a good excuse to buy bourbon to me.

So Question?

When that horse when to the glue factory in the sky, when does the owners cash in on the insurance policy?

I guess they were winners yesterday as well.

Question?

Why would a horse go to a glue factory in the sky?

Wouldn't that be horse hell?

It would have been worth the flight, hotel, and ticket costs to see a horse killed on the track.

hidsight 20/20 i guess.

what I don't get is why they don't show the horse slaughter on TV. I would have tivo'd that shit.

then cut his ass up and serve horse-burgers at the post-race party.

Yeah, PETA, that makes all the sense in the world...

The horse broke both ankles BEFORE the finish line, yet ran another quarter-mile before collapsing.

****ing jerkoffs.

Now I'm going to grill me up a nice steak, and eat it on my leather sofa, which sits on a bear-skin rug.

Of course. PETA then goes on to say that if HE didn't feel it (notice the sexism, and the total ignorance of what a filly is?) then it's because HE was being whipped mercilessly! What a moron. Yep, she was just galloping along fine with those broken ankles until the whipping stopped, and her little brain told her, "hey, you're running on broken ankles, go down now."

These damned race horses live better than most people. Cry me a river if one of them buys it occasionally.

As I said with Barbaro last year, the vast majority of the people pissing and moaning over this horse would never have been allowed to come within spitting distance of it. They are playthings of the ultra-rich; Lamborghinis with hooves instead of tires.

Because of what they're worth financially.

They are playthings of the ultra-rich; Lamborghinis with hooves instead of tires.

Are you saying that's a good thing?
