I wish there was a way that Tony Pena, could be on the bench more often, I mean, as cool as an automatic out is, sometimes its cool to have variety.

What I'm liking so far is that in both our scoring innings, it was, 2 outs, no runners on, which is a change from past games.

Damn... I thought Grudz had a hit there. It just hung up there a little too long.

I thought he had a guaranteed triple. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of believing Bob Davis. That guy would make you swear a pitch was absolutely crushed until it lazily settles into the glove of a center fielder a few feet short of the warning track. He's fine on basketball, but annoying as hell calling baseball.

At least they now have a little pitching to win a few 2-1 games here and there. I hear a lot about how hard this team was to watch with a weak offense.

This team was a LOT harder to watch when they were getting blown out every night by 5+ runs.

This team was a LOT harder to watch when they were getting blown out every night by 5+ runs. That sucks too, but if you have a good offense, at least there's a little excitement. Baseballs a bit of a slow game anyway.... and watching this team is like watching 0-0 or 1-0 soccer games every night. Sure it might be ok for the purists, but it's boring as hell for the casual fan. (like me)

That said, I'm cool with the direction the Royals are going. They wanted to start with pitching a defense, and that's been a success. Things are going according to plan. The offense might simply take longer to come along... it might not ever get much better this season.

I'm ok with that, these things take time, and we're making progress in other areas. It's just really tough to watch. Nobody's entertained when a 2 run lead with 4 innings to go feels insurmountable.

I dunno, I almost never leave early. If we are losing, unless I have somewhere to go and just have the radio turned up on the way there, I'm listening to the bitter end. I've also been in empty stadiums at the 9th inning down 9 runs when everyone else has long since made the turn on I-435 cruising halfway home.

Even with a weak offense, its more fun for me to think that we are only a hit away from being back in it, than to have an average offense but need 2 grand slams with 4 miserable innings left.
