The other thread reminded me I've been wanting to ask about this.

I have Sprint. I'm under contract for another 18 months. I've never had a huge problem with them, so I don't have the horror stories some of you have.

I had a Razr for about a year. Loved it. But on Christmas, it got laundered. My wife had an old Treo laying around, and rather than buy a new phone, I just switched my service to it. However, I hate it. i feel like I'm carrying a brick around,a nd it's slow as hell. So I've been thinking about switching to another SPrint phone.

So I want something with text messaging, internet connectivity, and would like a keyboard. I don't know the name of the little foldout phone I saw the other day, but I was thinking about that.

Here are the questions...

1) Advice on a nice phone to buy that isn't too expensive.

2) Is there a place other than Sprint retailers I can buy reliable phones, and have Sprint then activate them? (Have no idea how the proprietary stuff works)

First of all, Sprint sucks. I won't share my horror story, but don't expect any unbiased advice on Sprint.

That said, I have a Samsung flip phone that I love. No idea what it's called but I'll look for a link. Has texting, camera, and internet connectivity but no keyboard.

Can check on user reviews here (http://www.phonescoop.com/carriers/carrier.php?c=1), I dunno anything about Sprints current line of phones as I'm on Verizon and have been for years now.

My phone looks a little like this one. Except mine is red, and the keypad is slightly different.

If you want the "Cool" Factor, you could try the Rumor that has a slide out QWERTY kb but does not have EVDO comes in three colors though

Hmmm? I was in a jam in Feb just before I was flyin goff to Belize. My razor took a dump and when I called Verizon, it was "sure we can hook you up with a new razer, with a new two year contract." The would also sell me a ne wone for some large sum of money. I did my homework and it turns out, any Verizon phone could be used in their network. Off to Ebay and I picked up one in great condition for $40.00. My contract is up in July, so I will get a new one on them if I choose to stay with them.

As far as getting one with email on it...HELL NO. I figure the man has enough ways to get a hold of me without having one of those while I'm out traveling making calls. The company also only pays $75.00 a month and my average bill is around $112.

That's what I'm leaning toward, but I don't know if I want to drop the $200 Sprint wants me to pay. I guess I'll check out Ebay.

Like Joie above posted, I will also not share my Sprint horror stories. (there are more than a few)

I am with Verizon right now, and just picked up an LG enV this past weekend. It is a hella nice phone for the money. If Sprint offers the enV I highly recommend it.

How the hell can you "highly recommend" a phone after owning it for 3 days?

In this case, by using a key board?

I just used an upgrade and it only cost me $50.
