<table><tbody><tr><td valign="top">With twelve players to sign and the OTA sessions nearing an end this Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs began the long process of securing their draft picks by coming to terms with former Grand Valley State cornerback Brandon Carr, their fifth-round choice, on a three-year contract.
</td></tr> <tr> <td colspan="3">
The four-year performer has been outstanding in team workouts the last month and has a legitimate shot to crack the starting lineup.

In an interview with Carr this week, he showed the same type of confidence he’s displayed on the football field through OTAs. He expects to make an impact on this team and could start the season in New England opposite second round pick Brandon Flowers (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3723953).

Shortly after the draft, Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards told Warpaint Illustrated that one of the reasons he liked Carr so much was the coaching he received in college.

In other Contract News:

DT Glenn Dorsey (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3722647) - The dialogue continues between the Chiefs and his agent. With running back Darren McFadden (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3723388) signing last week with the Oakland Raiders, the NFL now has three of the top five rookies under contact.

Prior to the start of the NFL draft in April, Michigan tackle Jake Long (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3716226) signed a five-year deal with Miami. Shortly after the draft Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3723385) inked a long-term deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

Dorsey’s deal could hinge on how willing his agent is to compare the 2007 fifth overall selection with 2008’s. Former Penn State left tackle Levi Brown (http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=8&c=1&nid=3628876) inked a deal worth $62 million with the Cardinals last year, with just over $18 million in guaranteed money.

Stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated for more offseason news on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Also, this may interest some of you - Warpaint is going to have another Chiefs-player based radio show in 2008. It may feature two Chiefs players.

Tank and Turk?

I have no idea right now. We'll make an announcement once it's set in stone.

If you can come up with one good reason why you need to know I'll answer your question.

Why do you always have to be such such a cumlicker?

I believe, Kerberos, that Phil did say he finally got his money, though don't hold me to it.

Why is it any of his business? It's not.

Good to get the first contract done. Hopefully Dorsey will be fast to sign with the 4 picks above him signed. Pretty much sets up the slotting.

My memory sucks, and I had liitle interest so I didn't really pay attention, but I'm pretty sure Phil talked about it openly, so it shouldn't be any secret.

Your post makes it appear that he never got paid, because it looks like you're being elusive.

Oh well. I don't really care either way. I'm not about to do Kerberos any favors.

Well thats a misprint. Carr was a draft pick.

It's all a secret to Carl. He stood on the table and demanded he wanted his turn at making a pick in the 5th rd after all the praise we were getting with our picks. He called in the order of "unamed player from UCLA". They drafted Carr instead but Carl still thinks he is a college free agent signee.
