Wanna build a new PC. Looking to buy a bare bones kit from Tiger Direct and add to it. Any recommendations for processor to go with? Use for surfing web, email, Excel, mp3, photos, etc. Any ideas?

I don't know. Depends on how you want to scale this computer.
Intel is apparently going to release quad core processors soon. If you hold out a bit, it could shoot down the prices of Core Duo 2s pretty heftily.
What is scaling? Are the Core Duo 2's pretty good CPUs?

Scaling as in how many times are you going to upgrade. What is it going to keep up with?
I think so, but some people are AMD fans. I like them both. I have a Core Duo 2 right now in my Mac. I think it's pretty effective. Obviously, a quad core would be better. ;)
