Tough times for the fair and balanced, let me tell you.

NYT writer Jaques Steinberg writes (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/28/arts/television/28rati.html?_r=1&oref=slogin) a detailed Neilsen-proven story detailing how Fox News' viewership is finally starting to shrivel up and CNN is coming on hard.

Steinberg writes initially that Fox's grasp on #1 is slipping in large part due to Obama's surging popularity. But he also notes some pretty goofy behavior on Fox shows, this one being my favorite:

On Monday night, for example, the viewer did not even have to listen to an interview that Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes conducted on their prime-time program with Dick Morris, a Fox contributor who has written a new book, “Fleeced,” at least partly about the Obama campaign. During the interview the screen flashed continuously with dire warnings set off in quotation marks — “Obama would take this country to the far left”; “Obama would open the door to illegal immigrants”; “Obama would lower penalties for dangerous drug criminals”; “Obama’s tax plan ‘might trigger a stock market crash’ “ — apparently distilled from Mr. Morris’s book.

So, Fox News. Your credibility has been questioned by Mr. Steinberg (as well as an NYT editor, Steven Reddicliffe). What do you do to defend yourself? What dooooo you doooooo?

Put ridiculously photoshopped pictures of these gentlemen on the air to make them look more Jew-y?

That's right: to respond to allegations that Fox News has compromised their own journalistic integrity, Fox posts photoshopped pictures of their attackers to give them huge noses, weird hairlines, dark eye circles, yellow teeth, and a Peter Griffin chin for good measure.

Fox News. They report, you decide.

You got it both networks are a joke. I stopped watching CNN in 2000 after seeing Judy Woodruff jump up-n-down for joy when one recount showed Gore pulling ahead....only to later have to view her fallen face as well as the fallen faces of a few others when it showed Bush ahead again. Then the local Ds changed how they were going to re-count AGAIN with different rules. The bias was disgusting. Now Fox has done it cheerleading for an administration, its war and now a candidate. Whatever happened to just news?

It is disgusting but I gotta admit those PS images really take things to a new LOW!
