Here's the place to share new songs, old favorites, music videos, links, etc. to your favorite bands...

KEEP IN MIND - this thread is intended for those who have a distinguished taste for quality music... indie rock, electronica, underground hip-hop, etc. are all fair game.

But..

if your favorite bands were all at rockfest; this thread is not for you.

if you even remotely enjoy nickleback; this thread is not for you.

if you only rock AC/DC and Metallica; this thread is not for you.

no offense.

OK........ now that we've got that out of the way... what do you say? FLEX YOUR NUTS. lets enjoy some music.

Edit: if you like Fall Out Boy, you can eat shit

**** it, I'll play

Grew up a punk, into Old School Hardcore, crossed over in the mid 80s, got down with early 90s Death Metal, and today engulf myself in every new release that comes out every week. Right now my playlist includes.

Prostitute Disfigurement - Descendents of Depravity
Warbringer - War Without End
Hour of Penence - The Vile Conception
Hail of Bullets - ...Of Frost And War
Gnaw Their Tongues - An Epiphanic Vomiting of Blood

I try to never put down anyone for the style of music that they are into. "Quality" music is in the ear of the listener. I can say that I've only met a very few that are willing to stay up to date, dedicate the time and funds, and forever turn over stones to find the next great riff like I do.

I'll share a video that was one of my very favorites as a kid:

Ah, **** it. If you like electronica, here's my latest set:

Some new stuff, some not-so-new stuff. I was in a pretty mellow mood when I conceptualized this mix, so most of the tracks are pretty "intense." Not really a light-hearted set. Kinda has serious overtones to it, IMO. Also, it doesn't have as many tracks as I usually put into a set. Only 15 this time. It's usually closer to 22, so everything rides out a bit more.

Right-click, save as:

Tracklist:

1. Off the World (Gareth Emery Remix) - Martin Roth 0:00 - 6:30
2. Winter (Original Vocal Mix) - DT8 Project feat. Andrea Britton - 11:00
3. La Guitarra (Balaeric Mix) - Orjan Nilsen - 17:00
4. Touch the Sun feat. Anthya (Duende Vocal Remix) - Alex Bartlett - 24:30
5. 'Cause You Know feat. Departure (Original Mix) - Markus Schulz - 30:00
6. Kalopsia (Original Mix) - The Blizzard - 35:00
7. Hope (Original Mix) - Lemon, Einar K - 39:00

Sorry but if Muse is your favorite band then perhaps you arent exactly a "music snob". Maybe to some of the people here but not me or some others.

Check out the new Beck album hitting stores July 8th. Also the guitarist of the Strokes is releasing a solo album that is awesome (on the same date).

I have always been a big fan of The New Pornographers. Mass Romantic and The Electric Version are great, and Twin Cinema is one of my all-time favorite albums.

"Letter from an Occupant," from Mass Romantic

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XBAUQaj6EJo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XBAUQaj6EJo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"The Laws Have Changed," from The Electric Version

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jq9-5FjQb8g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jq9-5FjQb8g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"Use It," from Twin Cinema

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hpvqU2cmK8I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hpvqU2cmK8I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I recently discovered New Pornographer leader A.C. Newman's solo album, The Slow Wonder, and was blown away. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any clips.

I've spent most of today listening to the new Beck Album. Don't know if I have an opinion on the album as a whole yet, but I do know I love this track:

"Chemtrails," from Modern Guilt

The Faint - Worked Up So Sexual
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OTrvgUlAABE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OTrvgUlAABE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
i see you work at night, are you sexually amused?
what's it like to have a room of guys encircling you?
how she moves and how she walks.
they all patiently await while the heat from in their pockets could burn marks into their legs.
without your needs and your support she'd have a job the same as ours - nothing daring.
would she miss a job that's sexual?

in every city there are dozens of these clubs where men can go.
some people need a little challenge to their fantasies at home.
there's a little tiny number on a fold of matches,
the ink drips from a little dancer's pen.
everybody wants that fold of matches to reinflate their confidence.
hey, it is a job, it pays a lot.
is it disservicing someone?
and is it good to get these men worked up so sexual?
older dancers gag at what new talent seems to mean.
smaller tits and younger limbs can cause a fit of rivalry.

but it is a job, it pays a lot.
is it disservicing someone?
and is it good to get these men worked up so sexual?

well i don't know or care what possessed you to rape the **** out of this thread...

i guess i wouldn't mind if it was actually funny

Here's a wild guess, but just maybe it had something to do with your blanket declaration of being the Self-Appointed Grand Marshal of Deciding All Things Cool In The Music World, and how anybody who doesn't think your hip and trendy shit Rulz Teh eRth is doesn't count.

You haven't been here very long, but I'm really learning to despise your punk ass.

Iron Maiden. Disagree if you will, it's a free country but you would be W-R-O-N-G to say they don't rock crotches.

This thread can't be taken seriously if it has taken 7 pages to get to Maiden. Up the Irons!

That's the point of his thread. It should basically ready , the Official Indie Thread. For music that about 2% of the US has heard of, or care about.

Not that I generally disapprove of Indie music out of hand, it's the fanboys that get my hackles up. They tend to be condescending, elitist jagoffs whose only criteria for "good" music is an indie label. I suspect I will be mocked for Maiden but then I would have to say that only serves to prove my point that indie fanboys are generally hacks.

I listen to a ton of music most people wouldn't ever hear of/give the time of day, but I'm still grounded enough that I can appreciate some modern rock and country. Some rap to a certain degree, and I love me some classic rock.

Fanboys of any variety are annoying f*cksticks, but I think Apple fanboys top my list.

Indeed. While my preference is metal I have a fair amount of Willie Nelson to John Denver to Ice Cube to Opeth to Bach to Allman Brothers and on and on. It's whatever mood strikes. Hippie folk music I just can't get into.

There aren't many artist on Saddlecreek Records that I don't like.

I bet that show was killer. I would love to see The Faint.

I saw Conor Oberst (solo) at the Young Avenue Deli in TN about 4 or 5 years ago. He was amazing, even piss drunk.

Well said,I now have a little over 6000 songs downloaded and try to keep an open mind and make no apologies for what I like.Depending on my mood I'll go from Abba to Buddy Holly to Kraftwerk to Cher to Hendrix to Porcupine Tree to Guitar Shorty to Kid Rock to Apocolyptica to Alice Cooper and top it off with some old funk by The Ohio Players.

I saw them probably 5 years ago at Sokol Underground in Omaha with Small Brown Bike opening for them.

And it was a killer show, but it was right after he had released Digital Ash/I'm Wide Awake, so there were about 5,000 too many 15 year old girls humming along to every new song he'd play.

Thankfully he played quite a few songs from Fevers and Mirrors and Lifted,Or...

He even came back out after about 20 minutes of crazed chanting for a "Lover I Don't Have to Love" encore.

I saw The Appleseed Cast at the Hurricane a while back, that was a great show, but I think my favorite was Q and Not U at some uber-small bar in Lawrence with Food for Animals opening for them. That place was tiny, there were probably only 150 people there, but they blew the place out.
