Off topic...

Just got back from the Ozarks tonight. My youngest boy caught a 9" fresh water clam on a rod and reel. Damned thing clamped down on the drop weight. We thought it was a turtle at first. We put it on the grill to open it up, and let him save the shell.

It was the damnedest thing. Anyone ever see that happen?

Only in a trout farm in Colorado.

My step-brother-in-law's 8 year old son caught a 28", 12.75 lb. carp in Sunrise Beach last week. By the time he reeled the thing in, he barely had it hooked, as the fish had almost wiggled out of it. Damndest thing I've seen.

Defensive mechanism, I guess.

Heh. I must be tired. I read your post, saw the word "clam", and completely did not input that. It made me think of a time I caught a huge Rainbow Trout with a weight in Colorado. My bad.

No, I have never seen a clam caught like that, or at all, period. Did it come complete with a huge pearl and a pirate screaming "YAAARRR!!"?

At pony express lake in Cameron I used to get clams all the time had to brake them over a rock to get it off
