I swiped this idea, and most of the pics from another website.

Most of them are easy, but still really fun.

I'll start with the easiest one.

-Rich Franklin (#3 Middleweight in the World)* vs. Matt Hamill

Plus 89 has Thiago Alves vs. Diego Sanchez. Poor Diego.

People are still pissed about Bisping's win over Hammil, and don't want to give him any credit.

I've just finished rewatching Jackson vs Griffin and I just don't see where he got screwed. the only rounds I'd give to Jackson are 1 and 4. Round four is just a microcosm of the entire fight. Jackson catches griffin with a solid shot and takes him down. He's in Griffin's guard and proceeds to do absolutely nothing for two minutes until he nearly gets triangled.

I think Rampage lost for two reasons: Lackluster training after 9 months off and he didn't capitalize on his opportunities both times he had Griffin where he wanted him.

"I'll never take a nine month lay-off again"

The other thing that bugs me about that fight, is that people blame it on Quinton's knee injury.

Well, that knee wouldn't have been injured if Forrest hadn't kicked the shit out of it. That's just part of the fight.

I have no doubt Rampage will come back and **** some people up... I like the guy. But in that fight... he lost.

The pics were great, especially the Diaz brothers. Thanks

on Quinton vs Forrest: I thought the fight was a toss up. I thought it was clearly a 2-2 with whoever you scored winning the 3rd. As such, I wasn't bothered in the least by either guy winning, however, the scores that Forrest won with were pretty shocking. A 46-49 (?)

It's interesting seeing the post-fight interviews. Clearly, Page did more damage to Forrest's face.

TrickyNicky
07-13-2008, 11:13 AM
Yeah 46-49 is definitely off, but hey, its the NSAC we're talking about. Competence isn't one of their strong suits.

I would've scored it:
1st: 10-9 Rampage
2nd: 10-8 Griffin
3rd: 10-9 Griffin
4th: 10-9 Rampage
5th: 10-9 Griffin

Had the fight gone on into perpetuity, which would happen first? A) Rampage's knee would've become too far damaged to where he couldn't continue, or B) Griffin's face would have been too cut up to continue or he would be knocked out. I'm not sure I could say that Rampage could have lasted another full round of kicks. Griffin could easily get another two rounds on a cut if he protected it.

Anybody hear about this? Guy's lucky Baroni didn't kill him. There's video at the link...

http://www.cagepotato.com/2008/07/13/baroni-wins-ww-debut-gets-headbutted-by-asshole/

Baroni Wins WW Debut, Gets Headbutted by Asshole

Phil Baroni’s first match as a welterweight was a resounding success, as the New York Badass dominated Scott Jansen to a first-round knockout victory at Cage Rage 27 last night in London. Unexpectedly, Baroni quickly got the fight to the ground, scoring a smooth double-leg takedown shortly after the bell and effortlessly controlling Jansen from the top. After an armlock attempt didn’t pan out, Baroni moved to full mount, but both men were quickly ordered to their feet by the ref. Baroni then reverted back to his bread and butter, turning out Jansen’s lights with a perfect right hook; Baroni returned after the stoppage to shake the hand of his still-sleeping opponent.

About thirty seconds later, Baroni made the mistake of going back again to check on Jansen, and one of Jansen’s cornermen responded by headbutting him — or “nutting” him, as the commentators colorfully put it. (”Wot’a dizgrace.”) The headbutter conveniently disappeared after the confrontation, while Baroni scored big-time respect points for not chasing him down and tearing his dumb ass apart. Video of the fight and post-fight assault is above; the questionable ref standup is at 3:36, the knockout punch is at 3:58, and the headbutt is at 4:45. Baroni competes next at Icon Sport: Hard Times (August 2, Honolulu), where he’ll face 3-5 Jesus Is Lord jobber Ron Verdadero.

Forrest won that fight, you had to score round 2 as a 10-8 round for Forrest. Quinton got hurt on his feel, was grounded & pounded the whole round from mount, almost got submitted, and had zero offense. If the round was longer I'm sure he would have been finished. That is a 10-8 round.

Forrest won.

I just don't know how anyone can give Forest the third round. He only landed on one punching exchange, and two decent leg kicks. He had about 5 other leg kicks with nothing behind them. The fifth round I thought was a toss-up and could go either way. I had it either 48-46 Quentin, or 47-47. For all three judges to give Forrest round 3 just seems fishy to me. Keep in mind, I'm a huge Forest fan. Of all the guys to come from TUF, I respect him above the rest, but I just don't think he won that fight. TBH it has kinda soured me in regards to the UFC. At the very least, there was some incompetence with the scoring. The 49-46 is simply a joke. How does Forest not get a 10-8 in the 2nd?

There are some conspiracy theories floating around about how Dana and Chuck are such good friends, and Chuck can't beat Rampage, so they gave him someone he could. I think that may be a little much, but it is interesting none the less.

I gave Griffin the third round. And if you watch the first over and over, it almost could have been scored for Griffin. He dominates the round until the knock down, but recovers very quickly and limits any damage Jackson does on the ground, and then gets back to his feet. He wins a little over 4:00 minutes of the round.

I am tired of people calling me, or anyone else that thought Forrest won, stupid.

Well I would never go that far, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I just think it is wrong.:p

Jackson landed on one flurry where he clearly got the better of Griffin in the 3rd. The rest were either single shots or were answered with clean striking by Griffin. Also, I count somewhere around 15-18 leg kicks that landed clean. Even if they weren't delivered full power, they still count as pointers.

I didn't mean to say that you were saying I was stupid, it is just that a lot of people act like it was a terrible decision, and I think it was the right one.

I know a lot about mma fighting, styles, the fighters, etc. I wrestled in school, trained some bjj, etc. and am not an idiot. I have just read so many sites where nuthuggers have taken over, and claim that nobody with mma knowledge could think Forrest won, but I think he did.

I also get frustrated with Pride guys talking about how Pride fighters are so superior. Some of those guys are just idiots. It would be like me insisting that the Chiefs are the best team, even when they will be lucky to finish 3 games below .500

I'm a Rampage guy and I wanted Rampage to win, in fact I told a lot of people Rampage was a lock to win so this fight made me look silly. That said...
Forest clearly won the fight by points. I wasn't aware a lot of people disagreed but I guess I should have seen it coming since a lot of people don't know how to score fights, they just see Forest all beat up and Rampage looking fine and make the obvious assumption.
Forest was scoring points the whole bout, he just wasn't doing the things that would end the fight, he fought for points, not the knock out. When you start actually looking at what was landed and what scored points Forest was the clear winner. The fact is, a bunch of rabbit punches (and some kicks) that barely tickle are worth a lot more than a few good shots that nearly knock a guy out.

Well there it is. It isn't boxing, it isn't about the number of strikes. It is about their effectiveness. Forest landed only 3 of what I would call "effective" shots, one punch and two kicks. Whereas Jackson clearly rocked Forest twice, and landed about 5 more "effective" blows, even though they were single shots. From Marc Ratner, former head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission: G. The heavier striker who lands with efficiency, deserves more credit from the Judges than total number landed.

From a total strikes landed perspective, Forest would clearly be the winner. But that isn't how it is supposed to be scored, unless what they have always said is no longer true.

Well, what is crippling your opponent worth. Rampage could barely walk out of the cage.

The only opinions that REALLY matter were the JUDGES...they picked Griffin. End of discussion. A re-match will be good and worth "the price of admission". Rampage was exposed but both men are beatable...Rampage caught him several times but Forrest also did alot of good things.

Wait, where in the 3rd did he rock Forrest twice? The one flurry where he caught him with a 3 punch combo that made him stumble, and then where? The final flurry was answered by Forrest with two clean hard shots and right before that Forrest hit him with two good punches coming forward that made Jackson stumble back into the cage, which would negate that flurry as far as points are concerned. We can pick nits all day long, but until the NSAC gets better judges who know how to spot Ratner's criteria, we're going to be stuck with 49-46 Griffin. It has always been the case with Nevada. Stupid judges = stupid decisions.

It's going to be funny when/if Machida gets a chance to "rabbit punch" and "tickle" Forrest to a Unaminous Decision.

I think Forrest pushes ahead more without care of being hit than Machida would want.
