"Owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay-the first time ever in videogame history! [1]"

That's what I wanted to hear.

Once again a nice mixture of good songs, decent songs, and pure sh*t songs for the people who have horrible taste.

Yeah, some more prog-rock would have been cool. Sure, they've got Kansas, but it's a track everyone has played out on guitar because of GH2. Yeah, they've got an obscure Rush song that makes me happy. But still... some Yes, King Crimson, or Camel would have been sweet.

EDIT: well, Aqualung is there too. So Harmonix isn't quite abandoning prog.

In ADDITION to Rock Band 2, of course.

Curious, will the original RB drumset still work with RB2? I would assume so but haven't heard officially.

All of the instruments are compatible.

So they will have an option to select only the 4 pad drums over the 7 pad drums then? Cool.

The 7 pad drum set is a completely optional peripheral that costs $300 alone. There are still only four "colors" worth of input, plus the pedal, just that there are multiple areas on the set for some of the colors.

Dream Theater ;)
Great band to include, imo. Too bad the song wasn't "Learning to Live," that'd be an epic boss song.

I wish they would have put in "Another Day," but they'd have to ship a saxophone controller :(

Well, it's not the absolute best song they could have chosen. But I still like the choice. And hey, at least there is finally a DT song in a game. :) Hopefully, the first of many more to come.

Damnit, I'm gonna have to get this too.

Fallout 3, FFXIII, Diablo 3, RE 5, SW: Force Unleashed, Soul Calibur IV... I'm gonna have to take out a loan.

(And I got a Samsung 42" plazma screen today, to play them all (minus Diablo... so far) on. Thank you, government! :D)

Frankly, I think that list is pretty incredible. Sure, there are a few bands that I look at and think "eh". Still, there are a lot of good bands on that list. I don't care that they aren't all the exact songs I would choose. You can't please everyone. Personally, I can't wait to play many of those songs on that list.

BTW, anyone downloaded some of the stuff for RB1? I just downloaded the Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath packs plus a couple of other single songs. Very, very fun.

I didn't even notice this until they mentioned it on the Giant Bombcast. Awesome.

I've spent the last two days being so excited over Painkiller that I failed to realize that there is no Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. They'd be perfect for Rock Band. /sigh

Just an FYI....

Just downloaded 3 songs for Rock Band this past weekend.

Constant Motion - Dream Theater
Toxicity - System of a Down
B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down

Hard songs, especially Constant Motion. But fun.....very, very fun. ;)
