An Arapahoe County jury today found Denver Broncos cornerback Karl Paymah guilty of driving under the influence and careless driving.

Paymah was found asleep or unconcious at the wheel of his Land Rover 50 yards off of Arapahoe Road at South Parker Road at about 5 a.m. on May 26, 2006.

Paymah was unconcious when officers pulled him from his vehicle, with the SUV still running and in gear, authorities said.

His defense argued that the breath test was invalid. Officers in the case testified in the jury trial.

Paymah is set for sentencing on Sept. 16. He faces up to a year in jail.

Paymah was drafted in 2005 in a class that included two other cornerbacks, Domonique Foxworth and the late Darrent Williams. Paymah could be a free agent after this season.

A Broncos spokesman on Wednesday afternoon said the team would have no comment.

Now that Paymah has been convicted, he could be punished by NFL for a violation of the league's Personal Conduct Policy.

But your honor, I wasn't driving . . . I was taking a nap. Someone must have pulled a prank and started my car, and put it in gear.

Broncos | Marshall's home familiar territory
Mon, 28 Jul 2008 15:53:35 -0700

CompleteColorado.com reports Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall would receive 10 points on his driver's license after being charged with disobeying his lane assignment, driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance. Adult drivers can have their license suspended for having up to 12 points within 12 months, according to Colorado law. Marshall is also facing 18 license points for driving under the influence charges, 12 points for the DUI and six points for other infractions that stem from an arrest last October. He may be suspended by the NFL for allegations of domestic violence. Since being drafted by the Broncos, Marshall has been living in a Highlands Ranch suburb in Douglas County. According to Douglas County Deputies, they have taken 911 calls for his home more than six times and did not file a report for all but one of those calls. He had his license suspended in 2007 in Orange County, Fla., after a ticket for excessive speed. He has 28 points on his record in the state of Colorado within 12 months of having his license suspended in Florida.

Found asleep (passed out, whatever) in a running car in gear 50 yards off the road and then you want to fight the breathalyzer on a technicality? I bet that jury didn't even get to send out for snacks before this one was decided.
