I would think that poll was an outlier. PPP did a poll in the same time frame and it has Obama up 48-40 and that fits the rest of the polls

It appears there has been no polling done in the last month according to RCP.

PPP is a Democrat polling firm. Hence the (D) next to their name on Realclearpolitics....

Well that is encouraging for McCain. I really take these as a grain of salt right now, just an indicator of how much will be needed to be put in particular states. Once Sept. and Oct. come around I think they will start to indicate who will win what. (at least on RCP's averaged out polls). All I know is that it seems almost difficult to imagine McCain winning the general without Ohio. If I was Obama I wouldn't have put as much resources in MO, instead put more in OH. I still strongly feel Obama will lose MO in the general.

With Romney on the Ticket, McCain should get a 5 point bump in Michigan.
Ohio+Michigan=game over for Obama.

I would like to point out that any announcement of a VP candidate will make states jump immediately. Let's wait and see what happens when Obama picks a VP or simply wait 2 weeks. Whichever comes first.
Talk about knee jerk.

The latest Rasmussen Ohio poll had McCain winning the under 30 vote by 11 points and the 30-39 vote by 20 points. It also had him winning the over 60 vote by only single digits. Polls this far out are pretty meaningless, and this is even more true when the poll consists of only 500 people in a state the size of Ohio.

People who feel like they're being "talked down to" for any reason, regardless of political affiliation, have self-esteem issues.
But OTOH, George Bush has done an excellent job of fooling his supporters for the past 8 years.
So maybe having a beer with someone or treating them as an equal, even though it's the POTUS, is a great strategy.
It's certainly worked for Bush and lined his cronies pockets.
And the results have been absolutely amazing.
