I'm getting sick of my Comcast modem going out all the damn time, and I'm contemplating switching to DSL. For anyone that has it, how is the service around here? Is it reliable? Or should I just stay with Comcast?

I have it in Oklahoma and it is good. Not blazing fast but reliable. Pretty cheap too - $19.95/mo.

I have comcast as well. Are you talking about the modem reseting and such? I work with 2 people that have the DSL out here and they say it is fine. They are not gamers or anything though.

Olathe doesn't count. It's always sunny and 70 degrees in Olathe.

Do you have the naked DSL up there? I have some friends here in Atlanta that have it, $20 a month, no contract, no land line needed.

Yeah. It resets all the time, but periodically just goes out for hours at a time. It sucks.

I'm going to get the 6Mbps DSL, so speed isn't the issue. I just want to know if it's reliable.

No. I'd rather have Verizon FIOS, but they don't offer that here. If they did, I'd be all over it.

I would, but I'm pretty happy with the TV service... just the internet service that blows. If AT&T offered Fox Soccer Channel and Setanta, I'd be hitting that, though.

Got Time Warner Cable Internet for 14.99. Works like a champ.

I have had it here in Shawnee for three years. Never had a problem and it's never been out as far as I know. I have the slower speed version that's $20/month, but it's fast enough for me.

Is that one of cable's famous "introductory rates"?

Nope. We had this for almost two years.
