NFL announces new fan code of conduct

YORK (AP)—The NFL implemented a new code of fan conduct Tuesday, warning that spectators who misbehave will be ejected from stadiums and barred from coming back. The policy, first recommended by commissioner Roger Goodell at league meetings in April, is aimed at conduct that the league said “detracts from the gameday experience.”
It includes bans on:
— Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal.
— Drunkenness and signs of alcohol impairment that result in irresponsible behavior.
— Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.

— Interference with the progress of the game, including throwing objects onto the field.
— Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel.
— Verbal or physical harassment of fans from the opposing team.
“The in-stadium experience is critically important to the NFL, our clubs and our fans and it will be a major focus this season,” Goodell said in a statement. “We are committed to improving the fan experience in every way we can—from the time fans arrive in the parking lot to when they depart the stadium.”
The league also left teams the option of adding additional provisions to the code based on local circumstances. It said the guidelines would be contained in mailings to fans and signs posted at stadiums.

What is new about this?

Looks like the same set of guidelines that are used in every NFL stadium already.

I think there have always been a set of unwritten rules but according to this released on the AP about 3 hours ago it sounds as though teams will be posting signs and even doing mailings if they choose.

I'm even more glad I gave up my tickets now,I mean I try not be a total ass when I'm at an NFL game but c'mon it's football,it's about emotion, the way I take this is if according to Baney Fife I've had one beer too many and tell a donkey fan to sit his ass down and said fan goes crying to Barney I can be ejected?

Fighting over a football game is even more lame then fighting over a chick that slept with another guy . I couldnt imagine that shit. I mean i would defend myself if i had too, but going to look for a fight at a football game? no thx.

Not going to happen, Joe.

Security is going to have to actually witness these "rules" being broken, and I'd bet anything it's going to take a hell of a lot for someone to get tossed over verbal harassment.

So the "unwritten" rules are now written out for all to see. I don't expect to see any significant changes to the gameday experience...

Raiders fans asked "security" to tell me to sit down during a game at Arrowhead. Hilarious.

Dear __________ Ticket Holder

This is to inform you that we will no longer put up with any of our fans telling tards of the other teams to STFU when they ask you to sit down because you're standing cheering for our team.

Well the security guy was sort of uncomfortable asking me to sit down. He didn't really care. I didn't sit down. Neither did any of the other Chiefs fans.

Nah, Skip's the exception.

I'm probably too rowdy for them and I think I'm getting worse.

Well that would eliminate about 90% of NFL fans from ever going to a game.
