Obama - Kaine
McCain - Pawlenty
That's exactly where I'm going.

I think the best possible pick for McCain is Huckabee, followed by Thune. The other one I like for McCain, Condi Rice, is so out of mainstream consideration that I didn't even bother.

But I think McCain's going elsewhere. I believe his campaign, run by the Rove cronies, love Romney, who McCain personally hates. I think they'll settle on Pawlenty.

Kaine or Bayh would be great picks for Obama, particularly Bayh.

You don't think McCain and Romney's hatred of each other would derail things? I think it could.

Romney is exactly the type of candidate Rove's folks want. I just think McCain hates him too much.

I actually think Pawlenty is the best pick from McCain. Not an establishment Republican guy. Good on the economy and blue collar stuff. From a state that leans left.
You can rarely rely on a VP candidate to deliver you a specific state (see John Edwards for Kerry), but that probably won't prevent the Repubs from trying with Pawlenty. Minnesota would be a hell of a pick up for them.

I think Minnesota's out of reach.

Thune, however, would deliver both Dakotas and Montana, which McCain has been struggling to retain.

That's either a "maybe" for Minnesota's 11 EVs, or a "sure thing for those three at 9 EVs.

Eh, I don't know.

I still would NOT be surprised depending on poll #s by end of DNC that sHillary doesn't get the node for VP.
