A better question than what kind of car you drive (how many mpg do you get), is how far do you live from your place of employment.

Even though I drive a F150……..I live 20’ above my office.
Fuel burned to reach my office….Zero.

You can drive a gas hog than and burn less than the folks commuting from the sub-burbs

35 mile round trip. I work off hours and do not have to contend with rush hour though so probably 20 of those miles are at full highway speed.

It is one dollar of gas every day just to get to work and back. i am finding that I view my driving based on the gallons needed to get there now. I am lucky that my job is close to me. I feel for people that have to drive 30+ miles one way every day.

about 2 miles. I'm thinking about biking it some. I could use the exercise too. Starting to lose my Midnight Vulture six-pack.

I would consider that if my job had a shower. However, working nights, I wouldn't feel very safe biking it at 9:30pm in the area I have to go through.

I understand that. I used to live in Memphis. It's be downright stupid to try to bike to downtown or something.

BTW, I am genuinely interested in your answer in my primary thread. I will bump it again. I don't know the man that well, but I met him a couple of times and am curious.

It's not really the kind of choice you can make as a consumer. As citizens, though we can plan better to make this less of a problem.

I drive about 3 miles each way to work. The wife works at home.

We each burn about 2 tanks a gas a month in our cars, provided we don't take any trips. When we were going to KC every other weekend during football season.... well.... let's just say I'm glad gas prices weren't then what they are now.

I drive about 34 miles one way. I ride my bike and get about 35 MPG. I work 12 hour shifts and should only be working 3 days one week and 4 days the next but it doesn't alway work out that way. Fortunately I am well compensated for any extra days.

Sometimes, its not the distance but the lack of safe walking area. There is about a half-mile that you have to walk on a busy two-way unless you cut through some private property. I have thought of getting a bike, it would be easier to do that than ride, I just moved here about 6 months ago.

Depends on the contract. Nearest 224 miles RT from home. Furthest 1800 miles RT from home. During project up to 10 miles from local accommodations. I did spend 30 days in India on a contract but didn't drive so 0 kilometers there.

I owned that make and model. 21-28 miles per gallon. I would think you would have a more efficent gas burning car

At one time I could get you a sweet deal on replacement headlight units for your Cobalt.

I programmed the assembly equipment for them in Monroe, LA. That production line is now resident in Mexico.

I drive 112 miles one way to work on Mondays, then a mile a day to work through the week. I go home most every weekend.

I drive 45 miles each way. I drive a Chevy Cavalier that gets about 30-31mpg. Housing prices are such that to move 20-30 miles closer to work would probably triple my mortgage from around 100k to 250-300k. I don't make that much.

40 miles round trip, that comes to about 2 gallons of gas a day. Since I'm allowed to work a 4 day work week now I saving 7-8 bucks for that one day.
