The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is releasing the photograph that the world has been waiting for – the first-ever picture of John Edwards and his love child!

The stunning “spy photo” shows the former presidential contender holding his infant daughter Frances Quinn Hunter at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles – where the ENQUIRER caught him visiting the baby’s mother, his mistress Rielle Hunter.

Edwards is holding his love child while standing in front of a distinctive striped curtain.

The same window covering hangs in each one of the hotel’s guest rooms – and is clearly visible in photos of guest rooms on the hotel’s Web site.

“These photos are damning proof,” said a source close to the situation.

ABC News has the story from John Edwards himself:

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.

Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.

Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.

Edwards claimed in the interview that the affair began before his wife Elizabeth Edwards' cancer relapse...

Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife's cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter.
But the affair apparently continued well after her relapse had become publicly known:

In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. Seems obvious that was what happened. It was arranged for him to volunteer for one, and for her to decline the opportunity. That way it looks like he had nothing to hide but we never actually find out if he's the father or not.
