In December, the wife and I will be taking a trip with her brother and sister and their S/Os to Disney. We'll be leaving from Nashville, TN, and obviously heading to Orlando.

The plan is to rent some kind of van, drive down there and then drop it off, as we won't need it during our stay. Reverse the process for coming back.

What's the cheapest way to do this? Is there a good site with rental prices or discounts? Is there another way to do it?

I'd just hang out by a middle school and place a Hannah Montana card board cut out by the side of the road. You'll have your pick of any van possible shortly, and free candy to boot

Go down to your local Home Depot. Walk up to a van, yell INS and watch as everybody scurrys out of the van.

It might be best to keep hold of the van while you're there to drive back. I've been renting Penskes for so long though, that might be mixed up. I know that one way rentals are a lot higher on trucks, but I don't know if the same goes for cars. Is there an extra fee for driving it one way? If so, you'll be doing that twice. Could get costly.

I agree. It would probably be cheaper to stash it.

Honestly, it might even be cheaper to buy a $8,000 mini-van for the trip, come home and sell it for what you spent or less, either way you could probably make out cheaper than if you pay crazy rental fees.
