I know you are jones-ing for Pennington to come in and put on his duck launcher aerial display this fall, but appearntly there are others looking for his marksman service. So you "True Fans" that feel the need for a washed up never was, Carl might let you down this year....

Former New York Jets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyj) quarterback Chad Pennington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2149) shouldn't be unemployed for long. <!-- begin whole table -->

http://assets.espn.go.com/i/teamlogos/nfl/med/trans/min.gif Now that Brett Favre has landed in New York, where does that leave the recently-released Chad Pennington? The Vikings might be a perfect fit, writes Jeremy Green. Blog (http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3524231&name=nfl_nfc). http://assets.espn.go.com/i/in.gif

<!-- end sidebar table -->The Jets released Pennington at 4 p.m. Thursday to clear salary-cap space for Brett Favre (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=112)'s arrival, but a half dozen teams already have contacted Pennington's agent, Tom Condon, to express interest in signing the eight-year NFL veteran, a source told ESPN.com.

The source also said Pennington probably wouldn't find a new home for two or three days because the interested clubs are busy with preseason games. One of the teams is the Miami Dolphins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=mia), who open their preseason Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=tam).
Pennington owns the highest career and single-season passer ratings in Jets history. He also has the five best season completion percentages. Joe Namath, Ken O'Brien and Richard Todd are the only Jets to have thrown for more yards. <!-- begin whole table -->

ESPN.com's Tim Graham writes about all things AFC East in his division blog (http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast). Blog network: NFL Nation (http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation)

<!-- end sidebar table -->Pennington was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2006, when he bounced back from two shoulder surgeries to start every game, guiding the Jets to a 10-6 record and the playoffs.

But Pennington, 32, lost his job last year to Kellen Clemens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9635) and played nine games for a team that went 4-12.
Pennington had three years remaining on his contract and would have been paid $4.8 million this year. His salary-cap figure was $7.8 million.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano spoke about Pennington at his daily news conference but insisted he was happy with his three quarterbacks: veteran journeyman Josh McCown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3609), sophomore John Beck (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10484) and rookie Chad Henne (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11291).
"I only know about him from playing against him," Sparano told reporters. "From what I've heard about him, I've only heard that he's a very intelligent player, and he's always been pretty accurate with what he did with the ball. I know the guy's a competitor.
"We have three quarterbacks right now on our team, and we're finding it hard right now to get all three of those guys the work they need. I'm happy with the people we have here right now."
Sparano said former Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=dal) quarterback Quincy Carter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2601)'s workout was nothing more than a casual look-see to satisfy organizational curiosity. Carter hasn't played in the NFL since he was released in 2004 because of drug-related issues.

The sad thing is, it might be true. The vikes have horseshit at QB. Even Pennington is an upgrade. Imagine what they would have done with Favre.

The fans in Green Bay would have rioted. That would be like if Elway went to the Chargers. Denver would be under martial law.
