Ok, so after the first successful Beerfest we are in the process of planning another one for early September.

It is 8 teams of 4 people. Each team has a different country they represent.

We think for the opening we are going to have someone drink a beer from the country they represent. So I need some suggestions on beers for the countries listed below. I have some pretty good ideas but I figure CP would come up with some quality I hadn't thought of.

Jamaica
Australia
Austria
Japan
Spain
Holland
Argentina
Sweeden

We need to be able to pick these up somewhere in KC area.

I have always meant to have one but just never ordered it. Always see it at sushi joints.

I'd also suggest Asahi dry.

Ha, countries were selected based on the color bands we could get our hands on. Each team has a color.

Argentina - Light Blue
Jamaica - Black
Australia - Dark Blue
Japan - White

etc.

Holland, I'd go for Grolsch. It's also fun to say "GROLSCH" when you belch after drinking one. Sweden has crappy beer, so you should dump Sweden for Denmark and go with Carlsberg. It's a pity the best Danish beers are not available here. My favorite is Jacobsen's Brown Ale, made with six different malts. It's glorious.

I've recently seen a lot of Spanish beers, but haven't tried any of them. They are out there though. Estrella is probably the most popular.

WHAT!? Belgium beers are ****ing awesome. Most people cant drink them because of the spice flavor, but its how a beer should taste.

I love the idea of Beerfest, but some of those countries are a bit too obscure in regards to beer. Like Sweden, Argentina, and Austria. I'd replace them with Mexico, Germany, and Canada. Just a thought ... get a lot more variety that way.

I have a list of over 200 beer's i have tried, keeping a bottle of each. I always make a not to list its country of origin and i have a huge map on the wall, about half the size of the wall, with push pins in the cities and countries each is from. I love world beer.

Let me look over my list and see what i got from any of the countries listed for ya

Yea, this is just a small portion of the thing. Each country was chosen because of a color associated with their flag. And the "opening ceremonies" would be cool with one person from each team drinking a beer from the country they represent.

It took a while to find out a flag color or anything associated with purple. So much so they are not only a country but a span of time. Spain 1931-1939 ROFL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Spain

It all worked out well in March.

Japan ended up winning the first one. It was quite an upset.

Maybe we can do this the reverse way, where in KC do you think I could find the biggest selection of bottled beer. From there maybe I can pick out of them with a knowledgeable clerk.

You've got to be on their payroll.

If you ever decide to do Thailand there's a beer called "Kloster". I've heard it has a full body with a thick head.

Let's just say you're lucky to live on the other side of the world. If you were closer.... say, like in Puerto Rico or something I'd make you pay for that post. But I'm gonna let it go since it's far too much trouble to enforce from here.

Surprisingly, Bergbelia (sp?) has a pretty decent selection too. They stock Spaten in Liberty, which I will be forever in debt to them for.

Not stella, ESTRELLA

It is my favorite Spanish beer, Estrella Damm. May be hard to get here though... I think you are probably stuck with San Miguel

Either way, avoid Cruzcampo.. it is awful
