Anyone try this out yet? It supports both PS3 and XBox360 and eventually the Wii. It allows you to view Youtube clips, Hulu shows, CNN/CBS/ESPN clips and eventually Netflix streaming movies (for netflix users only). It is free at first but after that I believe its a one time $30 fee.

You can already view youtube clips and surf on the Wii. Although their Opera web broswer sucks.

Playon gives you access to Netflix Instant Watch. if this works then I probably won't re up my Live membership.

Netflix, I am having no luck at all.

got it. Had to take the quality off of Auto and set it to Medium. Worked like a charm. The Netflix stream is actually better than the Xbox one.

This will work on both the PS3 and the 360. Plus, with the 360 you don't have to have a Live membership to use it.

Wait, so I can sign up for this, and Netflix, and then stream Netflix movies to my PS3?

How much does it cost?

My PS3 has wi-fi and a web browser and can download movies and TV shows. I have no idea what this PlayOn is, but I can't imagine Guru paying $30 for it unless it's worth at least $100.

I have a 14 day free trial. No not yet. My trial got extended when they performed an update to it. Wish they would keep it free until an official release though. Not real fond of paying for a beta.

I do worry about if Netflix will always work on it or if NF will find a way to keep Playon from working in the future. But thats me.

Well it is a one time $30 fee, not a monthly thing.

But you really ought to try it out. Its pretty amazing shit.

I am almost considering signing up for Netflix now.

Anyone know how much Netflix costs?

To get the unlimited plan you would need, Netflix is $8.99 per month. 9.99 if you want it to send you BD instead of DVD.

Playon is a great feature. The only real thing I am worried about is my ISP jacking up my rates while slowing down my speed again. If I have to downgrade again, I don't know if Playon will even work. I may hold off on purchasing a license until my ISP determines any changes this May first.

I will probably hold off on the purchase until I know for certain my ISP isn't going to jack me around this May.

I can still watch everything on the PS3 browser other than Netflix so it isn't a huge problem. Playon IS better than watching on the PS3 browser though. Easier to navigate and a better picture.

Have you gone to their website? I'm pretty sure you can do it there. Give this link (http://www.netflix.com/WiHome?lnkctr=nrd-wihome) a try. If not, go to netflix.com and see if you can click on a "Watch Instantly" tab.

They definitely need to fix that if they want $30 from me.

Are you doing anything online when it does that?

No, Hulu runs just fine when I use that, for some reason its just Netflix.

No, Hulu runs just fine when I use that, for some reason its just Netflix.Maybe it is just a problem today then. Or, maybe your speed is right on the cusp of the next level and it is having a hard time deciding what quality you should have. Try reducing your settings to medium instead of auto select.

Anyone using PlayOn at this point? Two things are driving me in that direction.

1) just switched to Netflix from BlockBuster, and Instant Watch through PlayOn sounds good. I have a 360 in the basement that already interfaces with Netflix, but a Wii on the main floor. Which brings me to,

2) PlayOn has a beta using Wii as it's console.

Anyone using the Wii functionality? Any other reviews of this since the last discussion in this thread was 2008?

Haven't used the Wii version - but streaming through the PS3 works great, unless you have Windows 7. I have it working now but it was a huge PITA.

So I got it set up for the Wii and the XBOX 360. Getting an error on the 360, while the Wii worked reasonably well. The error on the 360 looks to be a prevalent issue after digging through their user forums. Not a good first impression for someone on a 2 week trial.

There is a setting in the Playon control panel that will supposedly allow you to stream to your iphone over any network as long as your home computer is on and playon is running.

nope, with Vuze I torrent the file, then stream it to my Tivo to view. Seamless.
