View Full Version : Elections Biden vs. Romney, The VP Debates

Who wins?

I like Biden's chances on foreign affairs, but Romney may run circles around him on the economy....

What say you???

:hmmm:

Not that anyone will REALLY care. Heh. ;)

Romney doesn't know anything about the economy. I've never understood why anybody believed he was some sort of economy guru. He offered absolutely nothing by way of substance in this regard during his campaign, which is why he lost in the first place. Romney's asset is organization and motivating people.

He's an empty suit. Or like recxjake said: he's fake.

I don't know much about Biden other than his NOUN VERB 9/11 soundbite.

However, I know enough to know that Romney while appears like a leader doesn't seem to have much to offer. He looks the part, just doesn't have the part. If that makes sense. Just my impression.

As to who'd win, I have no idea.

Then he and Biden should be a close matchup. :hmmm:

It would be a hell of a lot more entertaining than an Obama v. McCain debate.

True. Very true, but....

Stockdale vs. Gore was pretty damn entertaining too. Heh.

Romney would be the perfect punching bag for Biden.

And in doing so, Biden will piss off 3/4's of the electorate by saying something stupid/offensive/honest. He'll destroy any semblence of civility Obama has built up to this point, in 15 minutes.

On Foreign Affairs, he'll definitely take Mitt to the woodshed....I'm willing to bet.

Funny. Heh. Even if it's off-the-mark, it's funny.

Yeah, it's the shit how those negative ads, however loosely tied to the "truth," seem to hold such significant sway with some voters. Stupid bastards.

Hell...if the voters were any smarter...the "truth" would play more of a role than it does, in determining how folks vote. Ironically, that could be a bad thing...depending on your partisan ideological "bent."

This is exactly why this ticket needs Biden. Obama has taken a lot of flak, much of it lies. Biden will be straight to the point in calling them lies, and chastizing the person telling the lies.

Biden is a fighter, if he's anything.

I am making my pick based on the VP due to the fact that I have a strong feeling that McCain/Obama will not survive the next 4 years.

I think Romney holds up okay, but Biden prevails.

I also think the country will be worse after that debate than it was before. Nothing good could come from it.

Being fair it is like the candidates chose lepers to see whose arms would fall off first. It would be a spectacle but if no arms fall off no one will care. Two worse VP picks to shore up the campains would be hard to imagine. Well unless jumps off the Lieberman bridge.:doh!:

One other thing for the Romney supporters, you think McCain is being portrayed as elitest and out of touch after his debacle over how many homes, lets stir in Romney and go right over the waterfall.

I'd be surprised if he can do it without "losing it" though. Romney strikes me as someone who could be able to push the right buttons with Joe.

Here is what I see, Romney will look better than McCain. It will help Romney in the next cycle among Republicans against Hucabee, but it will cast McCain in a bad light by comparison.

But in the straight up comparison it will be a wash in the debates.

Why didn't that happen in the primary, then? McCain kept zinging Romney with one-liners so bad that it got to the point that Romney was openly begging McCain to stop the personal attacks.

And Biden is gonna be a tougher debater than McCain.

Watching that clip again and listening to Quayle was like the same playbook:

"QUAYLE: Well, thank you, Senator Gore, for reminding me about my performance in the 1988 vice presidential debate. This is 1992, Bill Clinton is running against President George Bush. There are 2 things that I'm going to stress during this debate: one, Bill Clinton's economic plan and his agenda will make matters much, much worse -- he will raise your taxes, he will increase spending, he will make government bigger, jobs will be lost; second, Bill Clinton does not have the strength nor the character to be president of the US."

At some time during these next 4 years there is going to be a crisis -- there will be an international crisis. I can't tell you where it's going to be, I can't even tell you the circumstances -- but it will happen. We need a president who has the experience, who has been tested, who has the integrity and qualifications to handle the crisis. The president has been tested, the president has the integrity and the character. The choice is yours.

You need to have a president you can trust. Can you really trust Bill Clinton?"
