I ahve been saying this year after year, the 4-3 sucks. The dominant defenses in this league have been and are 3-4 defenses. The Chiefs have not really ever had a good D since we got out of the 3-4. I have been saying we need to get back to it.

Meanwhile I am listening to the guys on TV talk about how the 3-4 defense causes all kinds of problems for the blockers and such.

Meanwhile we still insist on a 4-3.

The teams I mentioned have had dominant D's for quite some time and run 4-3 base.

The Ravens when they were dominant were 3-4, the Bears were actually a 4-6 when they ruled in 85. And the Dolphins until maybe last year ran a 3-4.

Point is fewer teams are as successfull as a 3-4 when they run a 4-3. The Bucs are probably one of the only notables that have ran a good 4-3 but look who they had talent wise?

No. The dominant Ravens D of 2000 was a 4-3 with Siragusa and Sam Adams on the inside.

I'm not talking about the 85 bears, I'm talking about the recent Bears who run a D based off the Tampa 2.

I think the Ravens ran a lot mroe 4 LB sets than you are remembering.

The Ravens started running a lot of 4 LB sets once they drafted Terrell Suggs. That dominant D was compiled of the big fatties on the interior of the d-line which allowed Ray Lewis to run wild.
