They have REALLY nice coverage at demconvention.com. Great video quality and multiple camera angles.

Their stage backdrop at the Pepsi Center is gorgeous, too. Style and visuals that would make the WWE jealous. This Western theme is pretty kickin'.

I'm hating the delegates. It literally looks like they rounded up the craziest batch of bastards out there.

Dean was, as usual, great. Klobuchar was just awful. First time I've seen her speak and I was not impressed.

John Legend was AMAZING. GREAT performance.

Did Pelosi get that suit from Dr. Evil?

John Legend was AMAZING. GREAT performance. It really was, though the backing sound was a bit too loud at times. The backdrop worked perfectly with it, too.

The good news for you is that there isn't a person in DC here or on the planet (lowercase p) who believes you (or any human) is this ignorant.

I suppose she wrote her thesis under her sheet with a flashlight while at Princeton, while her white oppressor classmates where burning crosses in her dorm's yard?Wow if there is a worse possible example of not understanding that oppression can come in many ways that are beyond cross burning.

I thought the video at the end was a little silly. I think the kids can be kept off the stage. I don't really care how nice of a daddy Barack is to his children or children in general, or hearing him say his wife looked cute, which maybe she did, but still...

I'm really torn about Obama. I think he's a good guy. I wish he was 10 years older and wasn't so close to AIPAC.

I'm quite content with keeping my emotions out of this race and just observing the whole movement. I would like to see Obama win this just so I can see the change. Something does have to change. And I think a black man as our President is a giant and progressive step in our country in itself.

Anyway, Michelle Obama is a keeper. If there was only a way she could take over Pelosi's position . . .

Honky is so....passe'.....

Everyone knows the proper term, today, is ""The Man"".....and even that is becoming antiquated. :shake:

;)

Sorry I couldn't come up with a good word to disparage the white man

So apparently, you're under the impression that racism doesn't exist in the United States? That people who come from the inner-city or from smaller ethnic communities (i.e., Asians) don't experience any form of racisim? Even 20 years ago?

You can't be serious. Because if you are, I want to live in YOUR world. A world in which racism truly does not exist.

No, please. Go into further detail.

Why wouldn't she? If it's what she really feels, let us have the truth.

I don't know, do you?

I did learn one thing tonight I had no idea Michelle's brother was the basketball coach for Oregon State. That is pretty cool.

He got hired this past year. He had been coaching at an Ivy League school before, Princeton I assume.

What is Barack going to know in 8 years that you'd like him to know now?

It's not necessarily something he needs to know, he just hasn't done anything. YET. Has he been a major sponsor of any grounbreaking bi-partisan legislation (see Sarnbanes-Oxley, McCain-Feingold)? Has he overseen the overhaul of a statewide budget? How about headed up a major comittee or sub comittee? That's the kind of experience I am talking about. Not all of them are necessary, but something on the old resume there would be nice.

What is your point?

Maybe it's me, but when I think of "white oppression," being a student at Princeton doesn't leap to mind as an example.

Ignorant of what? You asked a question and I answered it.

Yes, I'm sure there are many other examples at Princeton. Perhaps not being allowed to write a thesis?

How on Earth did you reach that conclusion based on what I've said in this thread?

Again with the ignorance schtick. You're argument here is that one needs to have experienced something to make a scholarly claim about it. From your posts, you seem to think that Michelle could only understand the sociological perspective that she was writing about if she had experienced a similar feeling of oppression (at Princeton or somewhere else in her life). You leave no possibility of one coming to understand something through reading and research.

You've basically argued that the education system as we know it is pointless, which is crazy.

In fairnesssthough, her defense is....rightly: "many others were not given the same opportunity" as she was.....

I think there were and are people with raciest tendencies at an institution like Princeton, but perhaps she wasn't writing about her immediate surroundings or herself.

"As discussed earlier, most respondents were attending Princeton during the 70's, at a time when the Black Power Movement was still influencing the attitudes of many Blacks.

It is possible that Black individuals either chose to or felt pressure to come together with other Blacks on campus because of the belief that Blacks must join in solidarity to combat a White oppressor. As the few blacks in a white environment it is understandable that respondents might have felt a need to look out for one another."

Has he been a major sponsor of any grounbreaking bi-partisan legislation (see Sarnbanes-Oxley, McCain-Feingold)?

'Groundbreaking'? I suppose not, those he's clearly worked on bi-partisan bills.

And considering McCain is now on the opposite side of McCain-Feingold, I don't know if I'd be holding that up as one of his successes.

Has he overseen the overhaul of a statewide budget?

Nope, he's a Senator. So is McCain.

How about headed up a major comittee or sub comittee?

Obama was Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Afghanistan. I don't think that proves much or adds 'Presidential experience'. I think most committee's are irrelevant.

I don't think Obama would be helped all that much by 8 more years in Washington. You have to understand part of his appeal is that he isn't entrenched in the 'Washington Way'.

Picking a President is like picking a head coach of a NFL team. Do you go with the young assistant coach or do you go with herm and dick curl.

The people that pick McCain will always pick Herm and Dick Curl

See HolmeZz... I am not alone.

Like I said, I'm torn. I can absolutely see and understand the "refreshing and young" angle. We're just banking a lot on it. I suppose you got to take risks though. They're kind of necessary when you want change.
