Most of you know how much I hate to do anything like this... but I have some substantial upgrades I would like to make before the season is in full swing....

So, if anybody want to help out the cause... click the DONATE (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/misc.php?do=donate) link in the header above...

I am fairly satisfied with our physical hardware (we have been VERY stable since the last upgrade) but we still need to make some changes to the software(need to re-up the subscription and such) and I want to add some more functionality... all of which is going to chew up a good deal of my time.

The problem (as always) for me has been setting aside that TIME to get them done....

This will help me to look on the upgrades as part of my consulting schedule as opposed to an "elective" activity.

This is also a good place to make any suggestions... I have a number of ideas but I will save them until I know how much time I will have to implement them....

I've really been impressed with the speed of the new server AustinChief. I think it handled draft day fairly well. I had 30 bucks left in my paypal account, it's all yours. Hope it helps some :)

More like, I need to mow Central Park for everyone's enjoyment not just my own...Nah... I don't have an issue with asking for donations to help with the cost of the site... The problem is saying you need people to give you money to justify you spending time doing it. ;)

Have you thought of implementing advertising into the site to help cover costs?

You could even offer ad free browsing for a small monthly/annual donation.

Screw ads, I like it better without. I don't mind donating over a little to help the cause, esp if it keeps ads of the site.

Ads are a fact of life and if they can help keep a site thriving then what is the problem? Or would you rather the owner(s) of the site not have the capital to invest and the site to grow beyond its hardware/software and then crash constantly?

I don't hear AustinChief complaining about it. He owns the site so what he says goes. If he decides to add advertisements to the site then fine, just expressing me opinion is all.

Actually he put up ads after the last upgrade, and IIRC they made the site freeze up. I didn't mind them though, as long as the ads aren't dropped into the threads like some sites do .

as long as the ads aren't dropped into the threads like some sites do .That is no less annoying than having the thread starter on every page.

Since the bash/fundraiser is off this year,I'll still get together the one day fantasy football contest and donate 1/2 to the site instead of our charity with the overall winner getting the other 1/2.

I don't mind adding new games if people tell me which ones are worth adding. I don't really play the arcade myself, so I'm not a very good judge about what's worth having. You can find a crap ton of them on this site, but you have to register to try them out:

http://www.ibpdownloads.com/ipb/index.php?autocom=arcade

If you find anything that you really like, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can get 'em installed.

I'd meant to do it before. But no stable paycheck held that up for over a year while I trudged in the lands of the newly self employed.
