View Full Version : Elections ****Official DC Election Bets Thread****

Seems like an appropriate place for all wagers considering who will and will not win various races come November.

I am on the books as saying I will leave forever if Obama loses Minnesota, Michigan, or Wisconsin, and I stand by that.

I am also making a formal bet with Donger: If McCain wins, I leave for a year, if Obama wins, he leaves for a year.

Any other bets please come here for them, and I will update the thread starter as need be:

Official Bets

Jenkins, .H vs. null, Donger: Winner of presidential election. Loser leaves for a year.

Result: Jenkins wins. Donger must GET THE FUCK OUT.

Jenkins, H., vs. Jenkins, H.: Winner of Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. If Obama loses, Jenkins must leave for eternity + 1 day.

Result: Obama wins. Jenkins stays.

Cronus vs. recxjake: $1000 (more or less) Casino Cash. Powell is McCain's VP choice.
Result: Cronus pwns jake and takes his duckets.
Result numero dos: Powell endorses Obama, thus proving jake to be one of the dumbest motherfuckers to ever live.

Jenkins, H. vs. Kotter: 6 months sig and avy ownership. Obama needs 300 electoral votes or more for Jenkins to win

Result: Jenkins wins. Flawless victory

Peanut, U. vs. Daddy, B.: Obama wins election - Big Daddy cannot post on the Planet (excepting CasinoPlanet) for a year.
McCain wins election - Ultra Peanut cannot post on the Planet (excepting Media Center Edition) for five years.

Result: BIG_DADDY has to GET THE FUCK OUT!!

Peanut, U. vs. Null, D2112:
Obama wins: D2112 doesn't post in DC for a year
McCain wins: Ultra Peanut doesn't post in DC for a year

<del>Result: D2112 has to GET THE FUCK OUT!!</del> D2112 has been pardoned by President Ultra Peanut.

Just to clarify...
You said in the other thread, Minnesota, Michigan or Wisconsin. Now you are saying Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Are you saying he has to lose all three or just lose one?

Obama is not losing Minnesota, Michigan, or Wisconsin. I'll leave the board forever if he does, and you can print that a billion times.

I don't care either way as I don't want anyone leaving the board over an election.

Leaving forever where? just in DC? or the Planet all together?

If it's leaving all together, that's ****ing ridiculous. is there any other way to resolve this bet? because the leaving part shouldn't be an option, for anybody.

Mr. Kotter
08-28-2008, 07:56 AM
I predict Obama will fall 3% or more short of his RCP average on election day.

Which means, I'm hoping he is at least up by 4% (preferrably more) come November.

If I lose, I will be drink DOMESTIC beer (no light, but DOMESTIC) at the next CP tailgate function.

That bet should be amended to the DC forum only. That would be plenty punishment enough for either of you.

Mr. Kotter

Hope you got something nice planned for me, Hamas.

:harumph:

My prediction, now, with 4 days to go....is Obama with 320 electoral votes, and possibly as many as 370.

The absolute FEWEST I see Obama taking at this point is 299 (with a Bradley Effect and underpolling of Republicans skewing the present polling--both possibilities.....which for purposes of the bet would be SWEET....heh.)

:)

With a late surge, I can see McCain picking up 40-60 electoral votes (FL, VA, and another state or two)....but I think that's unlikely, at this point.

Make it a $100,000 in casino cash, and I'll SWITCH my support to McCain. Hell that's a good as a carton of smokes, or a sixer of Olde English, that some of the folks in Detroit or Gary will be getting.

I recall discussing a bet with you (and some other person, too), but I do not recall agreeing to terms.

Perhaps you could point to the thread and post where I did?

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=4917475

Well, if I'm wrong, I would miss the main forum too much.

One year with no posting in DC.

Take it or leave it (or just take the "I was wrong" wager).

I'm not. How would you admit your defeat if you weren't allowed to post in the DC? PM? In the main Forum?

It's pretty easy, genius.

Your last post is "I was wrong". Start a thread with the title, then leave for a year from the time of said post.

Look at the OP of this thread FFS, and when it was posted.

Look at post 37 of the referenced thread.

I proposed 18.

He countered with 12.

I put 12 up with "I was wrong".

Therefore, I took it and made this thread, putting that bet down over 10 weeks ago.

I don't get how much clearer it would get without a signing on the deck of the Missouri. It's obvious I was complicit in the bet if I made the thread and posting the own risk to myself.

Again, I never really expected Donger to live up to his word, because he's a coward and a welching cunt, and I don't expect him to admit that he was even wrong about the result of the election, because he's a mendacious slunt, but it's pretty clearly established that this place isn't a court of law.

Loser leaves for a year

Jenkins, H., vs. Jenkins, H.: Winner of Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. If Obama loses, Jenkins must leave for eternity + 1 day.

If it's leaving all together, that's ****ing ridiculous. is there any other way to resolve this bet? because the leaving part shouldn't be an option, for anybody.

Hamas then making a separate thread claiming we actually had a bet is where he flawed.

I don't know what you mean by "final thread." The reason we didn't have a bet was due to Hamas responding to my offer of "12 months, take it or leave it" with another stipulation.

Since he didn't take it, I presumed he was leaving it. Hence, no bet.

Technically, the "Plus I'm wrong" is the taking of a bet. You know that.

Now, here's what I don't get. Hamas makes a pseudo bet with you (you contend he didn't, he contends you did.). So, naturally, you don't open his "Official Election Bets Thread" until the day of the election only to claim that "oh, noes, you have me listed for a bet I didn't make".

In other words, you went an entire 2 months without even opening the thread (which was bumped to the main page multiple times) only to discover on election day you never signed up for a bet.

Actually, it is, in the course of the dialogue Cronus compiled. You said "No, 12 months" and he said "Plus 'I was wrong'". That indicates that he accepted the bet and added a simple "I was wrong" in addition, which was something you had implied betting or adding earlier in the conversation.

I really don't care if you're going to weasel out of it as we really have no control over your integrity and whether you come back or not. At least be honest about it, though.

You don't think it's dishonest to sit on a something for 2 months when he knows someone is mistaken only to show up on the day it's supposed to be decided and exclaim there was no bet.

If it's not dishonest, it's pretty cowardly.Be careful he is not lying no matter what the timing. He is IMO being disingenuous.

For anyone who does not know the meaning of disingenuous it is

: lacking in candor ; also : giving a false appearance of simple frankness :

That header was up for months in HJ's thread and Donger chose not to correct it (this is why I feel he was lacking in candor.

Didn't you ban yourself for life, Cronus?

Take yourself up on your offer if you're not a coward.

You're full of shit on this one.

I have to agree with this. CRONUS should be the last person throwing stones at anybody in this thread.

I think it's amusing. As I've said, it's not my problem that Hamas made an error. I figured it would be more fun (lots of swearing and such) if I waited until the election to correct him.
