Well if that's the case, neither Democrats, Republicans or Independents are excluded.

I wish I could live in a world where I could choose were my tax dollars go. So even if I'm in the 46th percentile (which I am with both Fed and State), I wish I could choose which programs received my money.

The really great thing is that we have a say.

Yes, we have somewhat of a say, depending on which party we vote each election year.

It's just funny to me that people get so caught up in petty issues when the real issue (at least to me) is: Where exactly do my tax dollars go and could you please give me a full accounting (like we're required to do for the I.R.S) of government spending?

Don't get me wrong: I love this country and am thankful to have been born here. But I think that the average American citizen deserves better than what we've been getting.

And regardless of who's elected, that isn't likely to change.

Much to my chagrin.

It's over the top in many ways, IMO.

Have I violated the top as well on occasion? Yep. Specifically I'd call myself out regarding a few recent comments I made regarding Ms. Obama. I shouldn't have posted those comments, and I won't post anything resembling them in the future.

My respect for the office of a United States senator should extend beyond just that office and the person who occupies it. It should absolutely extend to his support system as well, and there's probably no closer support that Sen. Obama enjoys than his wife. She's off the table for me.

I regret my hateful posts. I'm still a work in progress, and I make mistakes.

How is it hateful in any way? The only remotely negative thing it says is that he's got big ears and is so good looking he could **** your sister and your gf. It's supposed to appeal to your sense of humor. It's not negative in any way, unless you just take offense really easily.

I was having a conversation today with two friends who are Democrats.

In one part of that conversation, my debating point was that we really didn't have to be concerned with racial politics anymore, because a huge segment of this country was embracing a man with a very different heritage.

Apparently I was as wrong as I could be.

Thanks for proving to me that we really haven't progressed beyond telling n***er jokes, and that some of us are still willing to make them about a man who is running for president.

CB was looking out for your best interests.

I wasn't.

I'm telling you to be YOU, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Don't let people on an internet forum dictate your life to you or how you should live or think.

If YOU think it was appropriate, OWN it. Take the criticism or praise like a man. If you feel differently later, OWN THAT. But don't delete it as if it never existed. Because it did.

Otherwise, how will you find out who your are and how to better yourself? Or if you even want to better yourself?

Not everyone is a captain of industry. Or a captain in the military. Or a Bell Captain.

Be yourself. And let the chips fall where they may. You might be surprised where you end up in life.

Sure, and sometimes, it's just better to listen to other people than bullheadedly insist that you're right.

I didn't see anything offensive in it at all, but if there was, then I whole-heartedly apologize. It wasn't meant to be any kind of racial joke, or even anti-Obama. I didn't see anything racial in it at all (no references to skin color, or any other stereotype), and still don't, but if other people do, then that's good enough reason for me to take it down.

I don't see it as ignoring the fact that it ever existed at all.

what

Weren't you just calling Michelle a ghetto bitch a couple of nights ago?

I called her nothing of the sort. That's just not true, UP. (I was using the name HoBama as a derogatory, however.)

My problem with Ms. Obama was her statement that she had never been proud of American until the moment they began to vote for her husband. I found her stance to be highly offensive, but I've since given her a pass, because I decided that I overreacted to that statement and she's the wife of the probable president.

You'll find my apology in post 31 in this thread.

This was the post where I backed off, and I hope it makes some difference:
