Well I had symptoms this morning, somewhat reminiscent of the ones that I ignored two years ago. Since I also have acid reflux issues I was tempted to dismiss the pressures in my chest as that. Remembering that it was a mistake two years ago I drove myself to the ER. They did an EKG and test and both showed no heart attack. But my doctor is keeping me tonight in the hospital for observations and a stress test in the morning. I that test and am not looking forward to it. Hopefully they will find no deterioration in my heart functions. Maybe it is reflux after all. I hope so. Wish me luck dudes and dudettes. I'll try to make you proud. ;)

Hey man sorry to hear that. Hopefully it is just reflux. Whatever happens, just make sure you do what the doctors say.

Someday, when I get older, my acid reflux is going to cost me a lot of money in hospital bills. Eh, I do have better insurance now.

My dad did that last year. His ended up being high cholesterol and blood pressure. He had to stay the weekend due to going in on a Saturday and no doctors running tests until Monday morning.

Hope all is well.

Hey Frankie, dont let the Chiefs put you in the Hospital anymore.

Really though, good luck with your situation.Actually I've had some indigestion for a week or so. But the game made me sick to my stomach significantly adding to my problem. Good call. Seriously though, I do get a bit worked up when the Chiefs stink up the place. My hope (not my dream) was they would lose a lot of games (for draft position) but would be competitive in the losses. This game was totally the opposite of that.

Update:

I did the test. It's not all good news, but not the worst news by any stretch of imagination. Doc came in this afternoon and told me that he has looked it over and there's something that bothers him. He thinks there just might be some blockage. He has scheduled me for an angiogram so he can take a look from inside of the arteries. If need be he would perform an angioplasty and possibly a stent. We shall see. I went home, but I have to go back on Thursday for this.

It's a good thing you're catching this early or the blockage could be more sever and really cause an attack. Hang in there!

That is certainly better than an attack. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing.

Blockages are what caused both of my heart attacks.... Had no warning on the first one other than being constantly exhausted for about a week. The miracles of God and medicine are phenomenal these days, I will pray for you that you are in good hands and that God has his blessings and favor on you. If the angiogram shows blockages and the doc recommends a stent, please don't get anxious over it. The procedure is fairly simple and not very time consuming and you will be asleep for almost all of it. One warning however.... be prepared for one HUGE bruise around the entrance site. Usually in the major artery in your groin.... mine was about the size of a basketball, horrible black and purple bruise.... not much discomfort with it though thankfully. Good luck to you and I will pray that the tests come up negative and that God heals you before the surgeon needs to.

Thank you sir. I appreciate your good words. However since you are a new poster, I should let you know about what most posters here do know. I had a major heart attack about 27 months ago (though I mistakenly referred to it at the time as a "massive" HA). The one artery in question was the recipient of 8 stents. So I am a bit of a veteran about what it takes. Still, your post is very sweet. Thanks again.

Hmmm. Well, leave it to a dang hospital to find something wrong with you.

But, the fact that they sent you home is very positive, In my view. How are you feeling, Mr. Frankie? Did the bed rest do you some good? Also, how has your diet been since your last surgery? I trust you've been watching the cholesterol?

That's really funny. More so because that's exactly what I joked about with her. She is extremely nurturing and she spoils me. I still haven't gotten used to it (though I'm trying my best). In all of my past relationships I've been the protector/nurturer. I did ask her why she insists on having me sit and wait for my meal served up to me in a tray. :hmmm: ;)

Bed rest is always good. Actually hospital is a good break if it's only for a night or two. The only problem is they wake you up like 5 times a night. Twice for pushing the needle into my arms and draw blood. Damn vampires!

My diet, under Fariba's dedicated supervision has been, fairly low carb and low Sdium and definitely low fat. I just can't pass up Persian Rice though. I can keep eating the darn thing even after I'm full to the gills. My main problem is Triglyceride (sp) and Cholestrol. Bad genes I guess. Good genes regarding BP though.

We'll keep you in our prayers, Frankie.

I had something a few weeks ago. Pains in my chest area and I wasn't sure what was going on. I have acid reflux as well. So, I wasn't sure if it was related to that. I hesitated on going to the doctor. Hell, I am only 36 with no family history so I didn't want to think of any kind of heart problems.

After a couple weeks or so, I finally got in to see the doc. I described my symptoms. She said it was possible that it could be a gall bladder problem if the pain was to the side of my chest and if it would go around to my back. But that wasn't it. It was mostly in my chest but all around, not just in one spot. That ran an EKG just to be sure. Turns out my heart is just fine. That is good to know.

Dr. just gave me a scrip for a couple of weeks to double my dosage of Nexium. That seemed to take care of the problem. I am back to to one Nexium a day and it's fine. I guess a good lesson to be learned from this is that it's always a good thing to have the doctor check you out. We guys tend to put off seeing the doctor, but that can be very bad.

I'm baaack!! I got discharged today.

9 years ago, at the peak of being in shape due to a 1.5 hr (every other day) exercise routine I started experiencing bad chest pains. No heart attack, but, long story short, I ended up with my first stent. The 95% blockage was right at a point where a secondary vein had branched off of a main artery, blocking blood flow into both. To save the main artery the stent had to be positioned where it was blocking the secondary, essentially sacrificing it. Two weeks later I went back in with chest pains because the secondary had other ideas! They went in and managed to knock a hole in the wall of the stent to allow blood flow to the secondary vein and both arteries lived happily ever after.

OR SO WE THOUGHT!...

This time there was another 95% blockage at the exact spot doing the same exact thing! Go figure. Well another stent has been placed inside the old one now, but afterward I was experiencing chest pains all yesterday thinking the same thing had happened. I mentioned that to the doc thinking he didn't know about the old one with a side hole (that was done in a different medical establishment). He is sharp. He said that he knew and had double-ballooned the spot allowing both arteries to receive blood flow. The pain, in his opinion was because of residual plaque that had been loosened into the smaller artery and ended up at the end of it. He had me attached to a medication IV to take care of the problem. "If by tomorrow (today) your pain is still there we will go in again and take a look." Well, low and behold, no chest pain this morning. Hence my release.
