McCain’s top economic adviser Holtz-Eakin holds up his BlackBerry when asked by reporters Tuesday (http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0908/HoltzEakin_McCain_helped_create_BlackBerry.html?showall) what work McCain did as Senate Commerce Committee chair that helped him understand the markets.

“He did this,” he says, pointing to his device. “Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you’re looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that’s what he did.”

Thank God for government. Without the innovation of government, we wouldn't have smart phones.

And Al Gore was one of the leaders in establishing the internet but he didn't create it.

It is a silly statement as this was

So, instead of helping American businesses innovate, he was up in Canada helping Balsilie invent the Blackberry?

So much for "America First!"

I thought Al Gore said: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet," didn't he? May not have been his intention but his statement was certainly phrased poorly and/or self-serving. Also played into the narrative that he like to exaggerate his resume (which was plenty fine without the perceived exaggeration).

He can't run a computer, but he invented the Blackberry. McCain is losing it.

McCain seriously has some of the biggest idiots in the planet advising him. Why is he not getting grilled for this?

Hell, Carly Fiorina came out the other day and blasted the SNL bit with Palin/Hillary as sexist. LMAO

His campaign has been flailing the past few days.

Update: Obama camp says remark falls just short of “the most preposterous thing said all week.”

They should use this and his remark about not being able to operate a computer in the same commercial.
