Making the taxpayer take on the bad debt so companies can take them off their balance sheets?

Holy shit, a tax-payer funded escape plan for predatory lending and braindead practices? So a lender or bank has an out for horrific practices? "It's okay if we sign off an any line of credit, if it tanks, the fed will bail us out"

Wow. Just, wow.

It sucks, but it is better than watching your home value, 401k and investments go bust.

Market is up 450pts on this news.

So what?

The market is in a corrective phase. For the fed to swoop in and provide an out is horrific.

How much would this personally affect you?

How much does falling home value, foreclousures, depleting funds in 401(k) and savings personally affect you?

There has to be a solution to this issue before the whole world is turned upside down. This seems like a viable option. You are going to have pain either way - but this is less painful imo.

Won't happen. They're trying to goose the market with words and keep things hanging by a thread for another seven weeks. The S&L bailout was about $145 billion. The minimum in this crisis is $20 trillion. There is going to be some serious pain that won't be solved by another Resolution Trust.

Welcome to corporate welfare on an epic scale.

Using tax money to ensure that the poor and their children can get cheap, easy preventative medical care and avoid burdening the system with the costs of major treatments: Horrible socialism.

Bailing out companies for making insanely bad moves: Acceptable.

It's a simple theory:

Profits are privatized, losses are socialized. :cuss:

I don't like it either, but I can't say there was a choice. I just hope we learn from it and DEMAND that there be accountability in the future. I mean the irony of people losing their homes to companies who get their asses bailed out just seems so WRONG.

Hundreds of Billions of Taxpayer Dollars (minimum) for this bailout according to Paulson.
