About in line with what I figured.

Obama has usually owned in the independent category and I figured it was close to a draw myself.

Two focus groups, one by GOP pollster Frank Luntz and another by Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg, both declared Obama the winner. Independents in the MediaCurves focus group "gave the debate (http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/09/presidential-debate-post-mortem-live.html) to Obama 61-39. They also think he won every individual segment. Republicans gave the debate to McCain 90-10, Democrats to Obama 93-7."

Even Frank Luntz's focus group in Nevada broke 17-10 for Obama.

That's a Republican opreative doing a segment on Fox News folks.

Wow.

Obama's supporters are more enthusiastic....that's what this says to me. No surprise, really.

62% viewed it as McCain winning OR a "draw."

Pretty inconclusive, really.

But all of the people on this site who don't like Obama are saying that McCain kicked his ass. So it doesn't matter what these silly independents think. It's not like they are going to decide the election or anything....

Nah. Just trying to be more "fair and balanced" than FOX news or my ideologically oriented leftist bretheren here at the Planet.

Are you saying uncommitted voters are more enthusiastic Obama supporters?
I don't follow that logic.

I don't follow that logic.

I'm saying that McCain supporters are less enthusiastic, and more inclined to consider it a "draw" than their more zealous Obama counterparts....who want to insist he "won." If he won, it was on intangibles...on style; on substance (my measuring stick) neither side excelled, neither side made major blunders.

...and 75% viewed it as an Obama win or a draw.

Hence, my "enthusiasm" characterization.

Where are you getting they were supporters of either candidate? This was a poll of undecided voters. I understand your point for decided supporters, but this was a national poll of people who identified themselves as undecided.

It's called the bandwagon effect.....you know, like all the "old" new Dallas fans coming out of the woodwork, to replace the "old" new New England fans.

Everyone wants to be with the "winner".....Obama's had a good couple of weeks.

I suspect it would have been opposite....say, a week after the Republican national convention. Voters can be fickle; especially moderate types. That's why I try to really understand candidate stances on important issues in a particular election, to avoid being one of those fickle moderates....who are merely being pushed around by the breeze, the bandwagon effect....rather than the issues.

Whoa. Nice job Obama. I only saw the last 20 minutes or so, and I thought it was a draw. It was pretty freaking obvious what each side's talking points are, especially McCain. "I don't think Senator Obama understands", and "experience" came out of his mouth every other sentence.

I watched and thought it was more or less a tie. The mediator was terrible. If he was doing his job the debate could have been much better.

I'm still undecided where my vote is going. :banghead:

There are a lot of problems along the way. The kids think mom doesn't love them any more and dad gets tired of cooking all the meals and doing the laundry. The oldest daughter rebels and gets pregnant - Ok, It's Disney, she gets suspended from school. But in the end they learn that they can accomplish anything if they all pitch in as a family.

C'mon Dane, get on that!
