A "Christian" nation will always hold Israel in high regard.
The Muslims want that land back.
The Christians feel it belongs to them.

One can argue that Israel is less of an ally to the U.S. than U.S. is to Israel.Yup, other than sharing intelligence when it is convenient, Israel is hardly an ally at all. We do provide them a buttload of heavily subsidized Military equipment.
