View Full Version : Chiefs 3 Teams Having Discussions About Tony Gonzalez

According to Rotoworld:

Tony Gonzalez-TE- Chiefs Sep. 28 - 1:05 pm et

Three separate teams are known to be "internally" debating whether to make an offer to the Chiefs for Tony Gonzalez, according to NFL.com's Adam Schefter.

While GM Carl Peterson has denied any possibility of a trade, that doesn't fall in line with the Chiefs' full-scale rebuilding movement. We'd guess that the three teams are Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and either Green Bay or the Giants. Gonzo, 32, might not bring back more than a third-round pick.

What could we get for him?

I'm all for it. He deserves to play for a winner and compete for a ring. What did the Giants get for Shockey?

No.

Unless some team is giving up players that could help us, or high enough draft picks, I'm not dealing Tony Gonzalez for 3rd round pick.

The ****ing Giants just got a 2nd for an often-injured head case in Jeremy Shockey.

No way do I give up Gonzo for a 3rd round pick. If we get a young QB next year, he's going to need some reliable targets. TG could play a huge role in developing that new QB.

You have to get atleast a 2nd rounder and another pick

If Shockey is worth a second round pick, you better reconsider what you think Gonzalez is worth.

I'd trade him to GB for Brohm and 3rd...

Frankie

A high second. No 3rd. But a "high" 2nd also means the buying team is NOT a contender.

I wouldn't give him up for scraps. When we draft out QBOTF next year we can't afford to have Bowe as our only legitimate receiving target.

Well, we could draft another one with the pick we got for him. Look at Eddie Royal for the Broncos. Teams don't have to have a great TE to have legitimate targets.

I would look at legitimate offers. But I wouldn't give him up for a sale price. If we get a good price for him, the man deserves to be on a contending team while we rebuild. I'm sure he'll be in the HOF as a Chief.

I trade to GB for Brohm & a 3rd round pick makes some sense....gives TG a chance to get to the Super Bowl too.

With Rodgers having the shoulder injury, you think the Packers would give up one of their back up QB's?

I have to agree with this.

As the GM of another team, because of Tony's age I wouldn't give more than a third round pick, and Carl would have to fight me every inch of the way to get that.

If I'm the Chiefs, however, I couldn't in good conscience take anything less than a 2nd for him.

i might be mistaken .... but haven't u used this as a reason a KC player to not be traded virtually every time something is brought up?

either in a positive way ... like tony. he is worth more to us and we need him

or in a negative way ... nobody is gonna give us value because *insert suckatude reason* and we can't trade them.

You'd be wasting a good player....Brohm is Matt Blundin and 3rd rnd is wayy to small a price to ask for Gonzo.

Gonzo has a couple years left. Trading him depends on when you plan on really competing, which I hope is sooner than 2011.

Yeah, to be honest I was never as impressed with him as everybody else was... even a couple years ago when everybody said he was a #1 pick. I mean he was good but he didn't feel like a Manning or Rivers to me.

We get their first round pick automatically. But we give them our second round pick?

So we get two first rounders. Not a bad deal.

Probably not a good idea. We could easily have a top 5 pick in the second and be trading him to a team with a bottom 5 first round pick. So we would be trading TG to move up 10 spots. I would rather just take a second outright.

Ok, your right.

Second senario. I like this one best.

We take their third round pick. Yes i said a third.

But we take their first or second best offensive linemen they have. One with plenty of years left in him and has proven himself at his position.

Our QB, RB's and recievers would have more time. Also Cottham will step in to take TG's place.

If a team is just one great receiving option away from a superbowl chance they would give up a 1st to get him.. But that is a big IF..

A team's best young OLineman and a 3rd round pick? Why in the world would a team give us that?

how did Green Bay get Matt Flynn of LSU and Brian Brohm in last years draft. What a bunch of QB bogarting ASSHOLES!!
