I'm not claiming credit for this idea as I've heard several folks in the media suggest this, but what would you think of...

Putting Pollard at OLB and moving Surtain to safety?

For the most part, I was really impressed with the success of man-to-man coverage today. And it was great to see our younger, faster CBs not giving a 10 yd cushion to the WRs. It wasn't Carter/Hasty, but it was great to see. Hopefully, the young CBs will only continue to improve.

So, do you like Surtain at safety and Pollard at OLB?

I like Morgan at safety, and Pollard is only playing at like 220 right now, but I'm sure could pack on afew pounds.

I think Pollard would be more valuable for us at LB. Good idea to whomever brought it up.

This has been floated out there for over a year. I don't think you can do it with this lineup, because DJ is SLB, and Williams is too small to play anything but Will. Pollard is too small to be a Mike or a Sam, he has to play Will backer.

I'd rather let Morgan get his chance at safety but I would not be opposed to putting Pollard at OLB and moving Williams inside.

It worked so well for Larry Atkins...

So now that Pollard's finally playing well at safety, we move him to linebacker.

Well, I'll give you this much: it sounds like something this franchise would do.

The Titans LBs are playing great and they start David Thornton & Keith Bulluck at OLBs. Thorton is 225 lbs and Bullock is 235. Like Thorton, Pollard hits and tackles like a larger player. I like his speed and think that he could easily put on a few good lbs. As for Morgan, yeah I'd like to see what he can do. But Surtain knows the game as well anyone on the defense and would be a great safety valve for a young secondary.

You make a good point. But,while Pollard did play well today, he still has problems in coverage. If the LB corp looked better, I wouldn't suggest it.

Pollard had a great game today. Both of the safeties did.

Best game of the year for most of the defense.

Breakdowns in coverage at safety so far have generally come with the name McGraw gracing the back of the jersey.

I think you've been seduced by his locker room dance moves. :)

Pollard had some really awful blown tackles in Atlanta. On one play he actually knocked Pat Thomas OFF Michael Turner.

It's bad enough that McGraw is on our active roster when he wouldn't be good enough to make anyone else's practice squad. But the fact that they actually put him out there on defense instead of hiding him on ST just shows how stupid our coaching staff is.

Terrible idea. Williams and Johnson looked like a great pairing today, both in run support and pass coverage.

Find a MLB, hope Pollard improves over the next 12 games and hope Morgan can find a niche somewhere in the lineup.

Page is the major weak link in the secondary in my eyes. Complete non-factor, and rarely in a good way.

It's not like these are new ideas.

Older corners are always veiwed as potential safeties, and the Pollard to LB idea has been floting around fro over a year.

But you generally make the older corner to saftey move with CBs that are generally considered to excel in zones.

That's not Surtain.

And Pollard is playing pretty well right now, and is improving, so it's becoming a more stupid idea to move him to LB every day.

He's too good in coverage to bench. Especially when we play Antonio Gates.

Why is John McGraw even in the game? Morgan should be playing over that scab.

For the same reason that Donnie was starting, and Williams wasn't.

I agree Page or McGraw have given up the most yards as far as I've seen. Pollard has been the one to clean up after a half-a**ed attempt at a tackle by Page. Page had one play today where Young made a cut and Page completely tried to arm tackle him and of course couldn't. Page may be a ball hawk when it comes to coverage, but he's a terrible liablity in the run defense.:shake:

Pollard makes some damn nice hits
I'd miss them

You'd see just as many if he was OLB. ;) But it's not going to happen. I suspect he'll play safety as long as he's here.
