Sprint Confirms XOHM WiMAX Eee PC, OQO (http://www.phonenews.com/sprint-confirms-xohm-wimax-eee-pc-oqo-2552/)

Written by Christopher Price on January 8, 2008
Sprint (http://www.phonenews.com/category/carriers/sprint-nextel/), WiMAX (http://www.phonenews.com/category/networks/wimax/) Sprint today made official what was demonstrated at CES yesterday: The company will be carrying WiMAX-enabled versions of ASUS’s Eee PC, and OQO’s Model 02 <nobr>Ultra Mobile PCs (javascript:void(0))</nobr>, when the carrier launches their XOHM 4G <nobr>wireless (javascript:void(0))</nobr> service, later this year.
http://www.oqo.com/images/products/twohands_02overview.jpgAt CES, Sprint is demonstrating a prototype <nobr>version (javascript:void(0))</nobr> of the OQO with WiMAX installed, though the features and software are demonstrative in nature. The Model 02 will be largely unchanged from the <nobr>present (javascript:void(0))</nobr> version, though it is not clear exactly how WiMAX will be added to the unit (for example, if it will exist alongside the existing optional EV-DO support).
http://www.asus.com/999%5Cimages%5Cproducts%5C1907%5C1907_m.jpgEven more vague, is ASUS’s Eee PC, which was announced, but not demonstrated. ASUS committed to shipping various WiMAX devices in 2008, though only committed specifically to a version of the Eee PC. This was done in concert with Intel, and ASUS’s formal embracing of WiMAX technology at CES.
Sprint did not add new details as to when, or where, WiMAX would launch later this year.

Dude Sprint has been 3G for what would be eons in technology years.

Verizon and ATT think they are the cat's meow with getting to 3G now.

And Sprint is rolling out 4G.

Next will be Sprint getting more of a global footprint.

None of this matters to me because I wont pay $40/month for cellphone Internet.
Odd coming from me, I'm a ISP admin, IT nerd, and general Internet junkie.. but I just can't do it at that price.
I have a Tilt from AT&T so I can leech WiFi though.

Another excuse to raise rates.
