Hamels' circle change is just filthy.

'Hamas' Jenkins

"Carl Crawford played for them way back when they were called the Devil Rays."

So, he's been with them since 2007. Nice work, Joe.

Nice slider from Scotty K to get Howard on 1-2 with a man on third.

'Hamas' Jenkins

If Kazmir would just get a solid changeup, he'd be damn near unhittable.

Upton rules.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 08:24 PM
Hamels is getting a lot more of the right side of the plate than Kazmir is. That 3-1 pitch to Iwamura was pretty generous.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 08:25 PM
Iwamura just pwns Hamels again. 3-2 Phils with the tying run on 2nd and Upton coming to the dish. If Upton had simply made one productive out tonight, this game would already be tied.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 08:29 PM
This Rays team seems a lot like the '85 Cardinals.

No one hits for a real high average, they steal tons of bases and have speed all over the place, they have one real power guy, and they have three really really good starting pitchers with a mishmash bullpen by committee.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 08:42 PM
Balk??

Are you fucking serious??

Jesus.

Tampa is really getting pinched hard in this game. I'd already be thrown out if I was Maddon.

WilliamTheIrish

So this is where everybody is. I've been lurking in the "Official" WS thread. Kinda slow in there.

Been some really great arms out there tonight. Howard has a(nother) chance to put some insurance on the board.

WilliamTheIrish
10-22-2008, 09:45 PM
They show Lidge. I wonder how long it took him to go to the mound and look in at the plate in any situation and not see Pujols long jack from Game 5 of the NLCS.

tk13
10-22-2008, 09:45 PM
That pitch was right down broadway, I don't know what Howard thinks he's complaining about.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 09:52 PM
Lidge is coming in a high pressure, high leverage situation. Tampa just has to be patient enough to let him throw himself into trouble by using nothing but sliders.

'Hamas' Jenkins
10-22-2008, 09:55 PM
Goddammit, do not swing at that fucking pitch. He throws it for a strike 20% of the time.

WilliamTheIrish
10-22-2008, 09:57 PM
Longoria goes Albert?

WilliamTheIrish
10-22-2008, 09:58 PM
That would be NO.

'Hamas' Jenkins

I have never seen Brad Lidge throw a slider that wasn't in the dirt on a two strike count.

The GIDP Upton hit into was smoked! Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team. Pedro Feliz is as good as any third baseman in baseball with the leather.

Kazmir is always an adventure.

He has got to work on a better secondary pitch in the offseason that he can locate, so he can use the slider as his strikeout pitch.

'Hamas' Jenkins

He threw a slider the last inning that wasn't called b/c it was "high" but easily in the zone...so you'd expect the ump would give him stuff in the lower part of the zone...but not only are those last two pitches fine for a corrected "low" strike zone, they're in the strike zone, period.

Congrats South Philly scumbags, you've been handed this fucking series on a platter.

I like how y'all keep ignoring that the umps screwed the Phillies in two games in this series and have also kept the Rays in the series by not delaying this game when it should have been in the 5th inning.

I'm sorry but that tag out of Rollins at third, the pinching of Kazmir in both of his starts, the missed pickoff, and that blown call at first the other night points to the contrary.

Philly has had some bad calls. Tampa has been assfucked throughout this entire series.

There was also the 3rd strike the ump called in game 2 that was incorrectly appealed and overturned that allowed the Rays to score a run along with the blown call at first that allowed the Rays to score an extra run and tie the game in game 3.

3 plays obviously are equal to the 27 times Tampa has been hosed.

I've said there have been a few instances where the umps blew calls for Philly, but what has been incredibly is the disparity in the strike zone for the two teams. That influences everything.

I've just come to the realization when a big market plays a small one the small one has to overcome more than just the other team...ask the Seahawks about their Superbowl.

I also like how the announcers won't say the umpires suck.

I'm pretty sure Seattle is a bigger market than Pittsburg. The officiating in that game did leave much to be desired though.
