Albert out for Sunday
The Chiefs listed Branden Albert as out for Sunday's game at Carolina because of his dislocated elbow. Herb Taylor will start in his place at left tackle.

Hopefully he's back for Tennessee.

yeah but for how long...

How long does a dislocated elbow take a player out?

I'm not going to get into all this 'Herm shoulda moved Taylor to the right side' or 'Herm did the right thing keeping him at left tackle'.. but... I have faith in Taylor. He's not the beast we hope Albert will be on the run perhaps, but he is good. I almost felt bad saying it during the game, but when Albert when down, I said, "It's okay.. we have a good backup. We won't miss much."

Of course, we hope Albert progresses and learns and that there will be a day when he is the second coming of Willie Roaf. But, right now, I don't think it hurts the team on the grass this weekend.

I heard Herm on Sirius Blitz on Tuesday. He said that Albert was out for this week, but thought he should be back after the bye. Good time foor a bye week. Albert and Croyle will probably both be back. I am anxious to see Croyle play for the remaining games. The line seems to be playing better, so hopefully we will get to see what he has and when he doesn't get hurt again he will shut up you friggin haters.

I thought Croyle did excellent in a game where he wasn't well-protected against NE's experienced D-line and LBs. He took quite a few solid shots before getting his right shoulder pile-driven into the ground. I don't think half of the QBs out there would have kept playing after that hit. Unfortunately, he was extremely limited/hampered in the passing attack due to Herm's play-it-close-to-the-vest offensive scheme. We still really haven't seen his passing accuracy in the long passing game. But I don't think we will until a game or two after the game in which he resumes play as a starter.

We've thrown the ball downfield quite a bit since the injury escorted Croyle to the sideline. That would suggest his conservative passing game is flexible.

I don't know that Croyle did such a bad job (except for that not winning thing). Even Herm The Magnificent said that Croyle was doing "what they asked him to do". Keep in mind that Herm wants a game manager - not a gunslinger. There are a lot of issues here - the poor quality of and youth on our o-line, for example, means that we have to bring those guys along slowly as well. If memory serves, Croyle hadn't thrown an INT and his sack to attempt ratio is tons lower than Downfield's.

I know it's unpopular, but I continue to hold out hope that Croyle can come back, stay healthy, and Herm will cut him loose. He can hand off as well as Downfield or Thiggy, he can run the boots and rollouts, and he can damn sure stretch a defense if we let him. He needs experience and a run of better luck - health-wise.

Herm seems to allow Downfield to pass a little more than Croyle. It's difficult to say what they would do now, though, since Croyle's played very few snaps this year. Damn, I wish he wasn't so unlucky and breakable.

I know taylor can play both tackle positions, should they move mcintosh back to left tackle and let herb stay at right? This way Herb gets snaps at rt and mcintosh can ride the pine as alberts back up when he heals up.MC is at least alittle better at LT.

Switching guys around does absolutely NOTHING for continuity and completely messes with a player's head.

What continuity are you seeing? Enlighten us. Becuase i didnt realize playing half a game equals continuity. mcintosh is horrible on the right side period. His position of comfort is the left side.Taylor can play both sides.Give the kid a chance to shove what he can do. When albert comes back the best players will be on the field and you'll get your continuity.

Tell us about your organized team accomplishements.I played linebacker and fullback through pee wee, jr high, high scholl and college ive also coached my sons team for the last 6 years and am a member of the nfl jpd and the afca.

Taylor has NOT played both sides in the NFL. Period.

He doesn't practice as a right tackle. Period.

Right tackles are road graders. Taylor is 6'3, 275. NOT a road grader. Period.

Just because he's the second best (or maybe best) left tackle on the squad doesn't automatically make him the best RIGHT tackle on the squad.

As far as continuity is concerned, Waters, Niswanger, Jones and McIntosh have played every single snap together and as a result, blocked for a 198 yard rusher and scored 33 points.

Additionally, I don't think there's ANY reason to **** with a player's head by moving him and back forth from right to left. Do you seriously want a guy out on the field that has to think about which foot he needs to move first on every single play?

Seriously?

No, I agree with you on not having a player on the field that has to think more than react, but thats exactly what mac doing.Herms and mac have even said it themselves in one of the recent pressers.

I believe herb played right tackle through out college and herm has said he plays both sides. If im wrong i apologize, but all im saying is mcintosh is not the future at right tackle but would be a servicable backup LT behind albert.

Lets see what Taylor can do (if he played there in college) it cant be any worse than big mac

He could be worse, for starters.

In the long run, he may be better than D-Mac but I don't think it's wise to screw with TWO offensive line positions at this time.

IF Albert were healthy and DMac continued to play poorly through the bye, I think a change would be prudent. But at this point in time, I think it's best to leave DMac at the right side and allow Herb to flourish at left tackle.

Look, DMac is NOT a long-term solution and more than likely, the RTotF is playing in college and will more than likely be drafted somewhere between the 2nd and 4th round in the 2009 draft. The O-line played much better this week and will only get better.

While the Chiefs won't face a defense like Denver's every week, they won't face a defense like Atlanta's (Abraham) or NE's every week.

Let them continue to play together. The Chiefs aren't going anywhere this year anyway.

Speculation.

After he got hurt in camp they probably figured his sprain could flare up again at any time, so they'd better have Herb waiting just in case.

They could have started preparing Taylor to start at RT after preseason, when it was clear Sackintosh wasn't too great. They didn't...has to be a good reason.

Although...Sackintosh played a decent game last week. So let's give him some credit.

Every team needs good, quality depth, especially at left tackle. The Chiefs don't have a proven starter and even though they want Albert to be that guy, he's a rookie and has already been injured twice.

Personally, I'm much happier with Taylor at LT and McInSuck at RT with Albert out. The left tackle position is the most important offensive line position for a QB and as we all know, our QB's need as much help as they can get.
